CHICAGO MARIST TRACK AND FIELD

On Wednesday, May 17, 2006, Northside Head Coach Jon Gordon and Jumpers Coach Adrian Hunter traveled to Niles West High School for a Three hour IHSA Sectional Seed Meeting. Niles West Coaching staff provided Lou Malnati's Pizza for all coaches at the meeting, and were excellent hosts. Topics debated and voted on at the seed meeting, included the starting height for the High Jump (5'7), number of flights in the Long Jump (2), Uniform Rule (Uniforms must match and be tucked in to avoid disqualifiction), Cell Phones and ipods (Automatic disqualification if you have a cell phone or ipod, at the meet in the competition areas), Jewelry (automatic disqualification if worn at the meet), Warm-ups (Warms-up may only take place in the designated Team Camp area, outside the stadium, and in the Indoor Field House) Time schedule (The meet will not be slowed down by a time schedule, and each event will take place immediately after the previous event is completed), Weight-Ins (Weights-ins of Discus and Shot Put equipment will take place at 2:15), Team Captains Meeting (All Team Captains will have a meeting with the officials at 2:30 pm), and Check-In (Athletes must check-in with the Clerk (Coach Savage of Niles West) within 10 minutes of the First Call for their Event). At the conclusion of the Seed meeting, all heats for every event in the IHSA Sectional Championships meet were finalized. Coach Gordon will provide heat sheets to all Northside Athletes at Thursday's practice at 4 pm. On Friday, May 19, 2006, the Northside College Prep Mens Track & Field Team will travel to Niles West High School for the 2006 IHSA Sectional Championships. The Top two athletes or relays in each event qualify for the IHSA State Championships. Medals will be awarded to the Top 5 finishers, and Team Trophy to the overall Team Champion. Points are awarded for the Top 6 places. The BUS WILL LEAVE at 2:00 pm sharp. Niles West High School is located at: 5701 Oakton Street, Skokie, IL 60077. Teams in the Niles West IHSA Sectional include: Amundsen, CICS-Northtown Academy, Mather, Northside, Senn, Sullivan, Taft, Von Steuben, Deerfield, Evanston, Glenbrook South, Highland Park, Notre Dame, Ridgewood, Glenbrook North, Maine East, Niles North, Niles West, Loyola Academy, and New Trier. Shot/Discus Weight-In 2:15 pm. Team Captains Meeting 2:30 pm. Field Events begin at 3:00 pm. Running Events begin at 3:45 pm.
