PLEASANTON — It took all three miles at the East Bay Athletic League center meet in Shadow Cliffs Park to decide a winner.

It was anyone's race at the start Wednesday afternoon, but it soon became clear only three runners would be fighting for first.

Dmitry Kislyuk of California, Shawn Daut of Amador Valley and Keir Forster of San Ramon Valley exchange places in the lead five times during the race and all finished with personal bests at Shadow Cliffs.

Kislyuk came out of the pack to finish first in a time of 15 minutes, 29.98 seconds.

"Basically, three of us up there leading the last two miles," Kislyuk said. "I knew there was going to be a lot of competition out there."

Coming into the race, Amador Valley had the biggest target on its back by virtue of its first-place finish at the Stanford Invitational last weekend in the Division 1 race.

After beating the field in Stanford, the Dons kept their winning streak in Pleasanton with a first-place finish at the center meet.

"Definitely less stress here," Daut said, comparing the center meet to Stanford. "It's nice to run a small race, more room to jostle at the start."

Finishing behind Amador Valley in the team races were Monte Vista (5-1) and San Ramon Valley (4-2).

PLEASANTON — It's becoming a way of life now for Diana George of Livermore High, run an EBAL center meet and get a win.

George competed in her fourth EBAL center meet on Wednesday and came out with her fourth EBAL center meet victory with a time of 17:43.58. The victory didn't come easy for George this time around after struggling early in the race.

"I got to the first mile and thought I was going to die," George said. "I went out to fast."

Finishing behind George was Colleen Lillig of California with a time of 18:00.40. Lillig set a personal record by 32 seconds, but fell just shy of breaking the 18 minute mark.

"Wasn't expecting that good of a time compared to last year," Lillig said. "Would have been awesome to have broken 18 minutes."

While George and Lillig were 1-2 in the race, it had no effect on the team standings as Granada won the team competition, sweeping the field with a 6-0 record.

Leading the Mats to victory was Lara Jansen, Hayley Swanson and Emily Paddack, all of whom finished in the top 10.

Behind the Mats in team records was California High with a 5-1 record and Amador Valley with a 4-2 record.
