Parent participation from the entire Comet family is the key to success for our program.  The Comet organization is an all-volunteer program (Directors, Coaches, Boosters, and support staff), and parent volunteers are a key component to helping the season run smoothly.  Simply put, without you – we cannot do what we do.  Therefore, we thank you in advance for your commitment to helping your child, and the Westland Comets as a whole, have a great season!

REQUIREMENTS:

Each child should be represented by a volunteer who fills 3 full volunteer shifts.  If you have 2 or more children in the program, you will be only required to volunteer a total of 6 full shifts. A full shift means completing the spot you sign up for in full – not showing up late or leaving early.

A check made payable (amounts noted below) to Westland Comets, postdated November 1, 2019 will be collected from each parent/guardian prior to equipment hand-out day for football and no later than uniform hand-out for cheer.  Cash will be accepted in lieu of a check.  The check or cash deposit will be returned at the end of the season once all volunteering requirements have been met.  A receipt will be given upon request.

  • $125 per family with one player

  • $200 per family with two players

  • $250 per family with three or more players

VOLUNTEER OPTIONS:

Volunteer date/time/options will be available through SignUp Genius and announced via email once schedules are determined.  It is your responsibility to sign the volunteer sign-in sheet the day of your shift, prior to each shift, to receive credit.  If you do not sign in, your volunteer effort will not be counted.  Please understand that we as an organization cannot keep track of everyone’s much appreciated effort on our own. The volunteer sheet can be found at Comet Corner for each Game Day volunteer spot, or from a Booster on non-game day events (ie: picture day, homecoming dance, etc.)

PENALTIES:

If the volunteer requirements are not met, the check will be cashed by the organization the week following the last game.  Each volunteer shift has to be completed in its entirety or it will not count for a full shift.  Please understand that although the monetary donation is greatly appreciated, your volunteer time is much more valuable.

If a check is placed under “stop payment” or returned for insufficient funds, you will be given 5 days to turn in the money (only cash will be accepted under these circumstances).  If the money is not turned in, the player will not receive the end of the year banquet gift/trophy, etc. until payment is made.  If no payment is made, veteran status will be removed for the following season.
