2007 S. WA State Tournament

The Kenenwick 15's are representing Babe Ruth District 5 in the S. WA State Tournament, July 17th through July 22nd, in Centralia, WA. The pool play schedule for the Kennewick 15's is as follows: July 19th, 4pm, Kennewick vs Chehalis (6-0 win) July 21st, Hoquiam vs Kennewick (8-5 win) July 21st, Kelso vs Kennewick (13-3 loss) July 21st (quarter finals), Longview vs Kennewick (11-5 win) July 22nd (semi finals), Kennewick vs Hazel Dell Metro (10-3 win) July 22nd, 7pm, Kennewick vs Kelso (10-0 loss) Championship play is July 22nd (updated) with the final game July 23rd (updated). The entire first day of the tournament was post-poned due to heavy rain. All games have been pushed back one day. The Kennewick 15's opened the state tournament with a 6-0 win over Chehalis. Greg Lowery pitched 5 shut out innings with 6 K's and earned MVP honors. Erik Baker closed out the game to preserve the win. Offensively, Brandon Stumpf was 2-3 with a triple, Anthony Zilar was 2-2, Mike Tsoukalas was 2-4 and Jeff Reeder was 2-4. Kennewick plays Hoquam Friday at 10am. For the second time, the entire day was rained out. The second day of pool play will be played Saturday (weather permitting). The Kennewick 15's defeated Hoquiam, 8-5, in their second pool play game. Kelso handed Kennewick its only loss in pool play, a 13-3 final. Kennewick will play Longview in a quarter final game. The Kennewick 15's defeated Longview, 11-5, late Saturday to advance to the semi finals against Hazel Dell Metro. Kennewick continued its streak by winning its semi final matchup, 10-3, over Hazel Dell Metro to earn a spot in the championship game. Kennewick will play the winner of Kelso/Centralia tonight at 7pm. The Kennewick 15's fell in the championship game, 10-0, to Kelso. Congratulations Kennewick on your excellent post season run.

2007 District 5 Champs!

The Kennewick Babe Ruth League is hosting the 2007 District Tournament for the 15 Year Old Division, July 13th through July 16th, at Roy Johnson Field. Your Kennewick 15's begin play Friday, July 13th, at 4:00pm. Come root on your 15 year old All Stars! The Kennewick 15's began Districts with a 15-2 win over Blue Mountain (Walla Walla). Mike Tsoukalas pitched 3 no-hit innings. Brandon Stumpf was 4 for 4 with 2RBI and scored 3 runs, Jeff Reeder had a double, 2 RBI and scored 2 runs, Josh Lewis was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI, Mike Tsoukalas was 2 for 3 with 1 run scored, and Anthony DiLiberto scored 2 runs. Kennewick plays again Friday at 7pm vs Richland. Richland defeated Pasco, 10-0, earlier in the day. In the late game Friday, the Kennewick 15's defeated Richland by a 7-3 final. With the win, Kennewick advances to the Championship game Sunday. In Sunday's championship game, Kennewick defeated Richland 10-1 to win the title. Anthony DiLiberto went 3-4 and scored 3 runs, Mike Tsoukalas was 3-3 and scored 1 run, Brandon Stumpf was 3-5 and Zack Smith was 2-4. The pitching was solid as Mike Tsoukalas and Jeff Reeder combined to hold Richland to only 1 run on 3 hits. Congratulations on winning the District 5 Title and good luck this week at the S. WA State Tournament.

Kennewick 15's Finish 2nd at State

The Kennewick Babe Ruth 15's are competing in the Babe Ruth State Tournament in Chehalis, WA, July 13th - July 17th. Updates will be posted following each game. The Kennewick 15's started off pool play with a 9-4 win over Pierce County. With 3 hits and 5 RBI, Luke was named the MVP of the game. Austin P. added 2 hits and 3 RBI of his own. Jeff and Raef pitched very well and limited Pierce County to only 1 hit. Kennewick will play Hazel Dell in a Pool Play on Thursday. In Pool Play game #2, Kennewick lost 11-0 to Hazel Dell. In their final Pool Play game, Kennewick defeated Centralia by a 4-2 final on Friday. Luke had 2 hits in the game in the victory. Thomas and Jeff combined to allowed only 2 runs on 10 hits. With the win, Kennewick clinched the #2 seed from their pool. In single elimination, Kennewick matched up against Chehalis, the #3 seed from pool B. In a very close game, Kennewick came out on top with a 3-2 win. Jeff, Austin P., and Thomas all pitched very well in the win. Offensively, Thomas had two hits with a double. With the win over Chehalis, Kennewick faced #1 seed Longview. Kennewick was able to pull out the win, 6-4, to reach the finals. Thomas and Austin P. held a very good hitting Longview team to only 4 runs. Austin P. and Luke had 3 hits each, while Ethan added 2 hits of his own. Kennewick will get a rematch with #1 seed Hazel Dell, Sunday, at 10am with the winner advancing to regionals. The Kennewick 15's finished 2nd at state after a 12-6 loss to Hazel Dell. Kennewick's 6 runs were more than any other team was able to score on Hazel Dell. Congratulations on your strong showing at the WA State Tournament.

Kennewick 15's Win District Title

The Kennewick Babe Ruth League 15 Year Old All Star Team got off to a good start at the District Tournament with a 14-4 win over Richland. The Kennewick 15's sufferred their fist loss of the tournament, 8-6, to Asotin County. In the loss, David and Jeff each had 2 hits, including a double. Kennewick bounced back with a 3-2 defeat of Richland to advance to the finals. Thomas threw a complete game with 6 strikeouts. The win eliminated Richland and advanced Kennewick to the championship round vs Asotin County. In the first game of the finals, Kennewick defeated Asotin County, 10-3, and will play again to set the 1 and 2 seeds gonig to State. Dillion had 3 hits in the game. Game 2 is Sunday at 3pm. In the championship game, Kennewick won 21-4, over Asotin County and earned the 15 Year Old Babe Ruth District Title. Raef threw a complete game and came up with 4 hits. With the win, Kennewick is the District's #1 seed and advances on to the State Tournament in Chehalis, July 13th - 18th.
