Kennewick 13's Finish 3rd at World Series

The Kennewick Babe Ruth 13's are competing in the World Series, August 17th-24th, in Loudoun County, VA. Kennewick will play 4 pool play games with the top two seeds advancing to single elimination play. Pool Play games are as follows:

8/18, 5pm (pst), Kennewick vs Glen Allen, VA (12-3 win)

8/19, 1pm, Kennewick vs Bakersfield, CA (11-6 loss)

8/20, 10:30am, Kennewick vs Tallahassee, FL (7-0 win)

8/21, 8am, Kennewick vs Manchester, NH (20-0 win)

8/23, 2:30pm, Kennewick vs Bakersfield, CA (Semi Finals) (6-2 loss)

In game 1 of pool play, the Kennewick 13's defeated Glen Allen, VA, by a 12-3 final. Blue Chavez pitched 6 innings, allowing only 3 runs, to pick up the win on the mound. Jesse Houser pitched the final inning. Chavez and Houser combined to give up only two hits. Offensively, Drew Loftus led the 13 hit attack by going 4-5 with a 3B and 3 RBI, Trek Stemp was 4-4, Matt Mendenhall added a 3B and 3 RBI.

The Kennewick 13's took their first defeat of pool play, 11-6, to Bakersfield, CA. The game was back and forth with both teams having leads in the game. Bakersfield took control with a 5 run 5th inning rally. Matt Mendenhall was 3-4 with 2 2B and an RBI, Drew Loftus was 2-4 with a 3B and 2 RBI. The KBR 13's are now 1-1 in pool play.

Kennewick rebounded from their 1st post-season loss with a big 7-0 win over previously undefeated Tallahassee, FL. John Hamilton pitched a complete game shutout; the only shutout of the world series. Drew Oord was 3-4 with 2 RBI and a run, Matt Mendenhall added a 2B and scored 2 runs and Blue Chavez added a 3B and 3 RBI. Kennewick is now 2-1 in pool play and plays Manchester, NH, tomorrow at 8am.

Kennewick pounded out 15 hits in a 20-0 win over Manchester, NH, in their final pool play game. Drew Loftus was 2-3 with a 3B and a HR in the game, Drew Oord was 2-2 with a 3B, Trek Stemp was 3-4 with a pair of 2B, Matt Mendenhall was 2-3 with a 2B, Jesse Houser was 2-4, Paul Hamada was 2-2 and Chris Haueter added a 2B. Jesse Houser pitched a complete game shutout, scattering only 3 hits in the 5 inning game.

With the win, Kennewick earns the #1 seed in the American division and a 1st round bye. Kennewick will get a rematch with Bakersfield, CA, in the semi finals, Thursday, at 2:30pm.

The Kennewick 13's season came to an end after a 6-2 loss to Bakersfield, CA, in the semi finals of the Babe Ruth 13 Year Old World Series. Kennewick took 3rd place in the World Series with a 3-2 record.  They finished with a 17-2 post season record.   Congratulations, Kennewick, on your outstanding post season!

2007 PNW Regional Tournament Champions

The Kennewick 13's are representing S. Washington in the Pacific Northwest Regional Tournament, July 27th through August 2nd, in Bozeman, Montana. Kenenwick's pool play schedule is as follows: 7/28, Alberta vs Kennewick (12-0 win) 7/29, Kennewick vs N. OR (9-1 win) 7/30, Kennewick vs MT (14-2 win) 8/1, Mount Vernon (N. WA) vs Kennewick (6-5 win) 8/2, (semi finals) Kennewick vs, Nanaimo, BC (15-0 win) 8/2 (finals) Kennewick vs Pendleton, OR (7-4 win) The Kennewick 13's began pool play of the PNW Regional Tournament with a 12-0 win over Alberta. Drew Oord and John Hamilton combined on a 4-hit shutout. Offensively, Trek Stemp was 2-3, Drew Oord was 3-4 with 2 doubles, Matt Mendenhall had 3RBI, Ty Jackson had 3RBI and Mike McAdie added 2RBI. Kennewick takes on Pendleton, OR, in pool play on Sunday at 11:30. Kennewick moved to 2-0 in pool play with a 9-1 win over Pendleton, OR. Matt Mendenhall was 2-4 with 2R and 2RBI, Drew Loftus was 2-3 with a SB, R and RBI, Mike McAdie was 3-4 with a SB. Blue Chavez was lights out on the mound, allowing only 1 run on 3 hits with 7K's in 5 innings. Ty Jackson closed out the game with 2 shutout innings. Kennewick will take on the Montana champs, Livingston, at 4:30, Monday, in a pool play game. The Kennewick 13's moved to 3-0 in pool play with a 14-2 win over Montana. Chris Haueter had 3RBI in the game. Kennewick will face Mt. Vernon, WA, in their final pool play game on Wednesday. Kennewick will advance to the semi finals after a 6-5 win over Mt. Vernon, WA. Kennewick got the final out, and potential tying run of the game, at home plate. With the win, Kennewick (4-0) is the #1 seed from the National Division. As the National #1 seed, Kennewick will play the American #2 seed, Nanaimo, BC, Thursday, at 2:00. In the other semi final, American #1, Willamette Valley, OR, will play National #2, Pendleton, OR, at 10:00 Thursday. Kennewick will play Pendleton, OR, tonight in the PNW Regional Tournament championship game. The Kenenwick 13's shutout Nanaimo, BC, 15-0, in their semi final game. Pendleton took out Willamette Valley, OR, 19-1, in their semi final game. The winner will advance to the Babe Ruth World Series. The Kennewick 13's are headed to the World Series! In the championship game, Kennewick defeated Pendleton, OR, 7-4. Matt Mendenhall led the charge with 2H and 3RBI. Trek Stemp, Drew Loftus and Bryce Jackson each added a pair of hits. On the mound, Blue Chavez pitched 5 outstanding innings, allowing only 2 runs on 4 hits, to pick up the win. Drew Oord closed out the game throwing the final 2 innings. Kennewick will represent the Pacific Northwest in the Babe Ruth 13-Year-Old World Series, August 17th-24th, in Loudoun County, VA. Good Luck Kennewick 13's!

2007 S. WA Champions!

The Kenenwick 13's are representing Babe Ruth District 5 in the S. WA State Tournament, July 17th through July 22nd, in Olympia Tumwater. The pool play schedule for the Kennewick 13's is as follows: July 18th, 10am, Hoquiam vs Kennewick (Rained out - Rescheduled for 7/19 at 8:30am) July 19th, 8:30am, Hoquiam vs Kennewick (20-1 win) July 19th, 6:30pm, Kennewick vs Olympia-Tumwater (Cancelled) July 20th, 9am, Kennewick vs Hazel Dell Metro (Cancelled) Single Elimination Tournament (new tournament format) July 21st, 12:00pm, Hoquiam vs Kennewick(16-3 win) July 23rd, 11:00am, Longview vs Kennewick (7-0 win) July 23rd, (championship game), Kennewick vs Hazel Dell Metro (12-3 win) The Kennewick 13's first game was rained out and has been rescheduled for Thursday morning at 8am. The Kennewick 13's started off the state tournament on the right foot with a 20-1 victory over Hoquiam. Ty Jackson, Jesse Houser, and John Hamilton combined to 1-hit Hoquiam in 4-1/2 innings. Offensively, Blue Chavez was 3-4 with a 3B and 4RBI, Mike McAdie was 3-3 with 3RBI, Trek Stemp was 3-5 with a 3B and 2RBI, Ty Jackson was 2-2 and Chris Haueter was 2-3. Kennewick plays host Olympia-Tumwater at 6:30 tonight (weather permitting). Due to weather delays, the 13 year old state tournament format has been changed to a single elimination with games beginning Saturday, July 21st. The Kennewick 13's will play Hoquiam at 12:00pm. Kennewick defeated Hoquiam by a 16-3 final. Bryce Jackson, John Hamilton, and Drew Loftus combined to hold Hoquiam to 3 runs on only 2 hits. Kennewick put on a hitting clinic with 22 hits in the shortened 5 inning game. Matt Mendenhall was 3-3 with a double and 3 RBI, Blue Chavez was 2-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI, Truk Stemp was 3-3 with an RBI, Justin Pedley was 2-2 with a triple and 2 RBI, Chris Houter was 2-2, Bryce Jackson was 2-3 and Taylor Sanderson was 2-4. With the win, Kennewick advances to the semi finals against Longview. The Kennewick 13's shutout Longview, 7-0, in their semi final game. Drew Oord threw 6 scoreless innings, with 5 K's, and Blue Chavez closed out the 7th inning. Chris Haueter was 2-3, Mike McAdie was 2-4 with 2RBI, Ty Jackson was 2-4, and Blue Chavez was 2-4 with a 2B. Trek Stemp also delivered 2RBI. With the win, Kennewick advances to play Hazel Dell Metro for the championship. The Kennewick 13's defeated Hazel Dell Metro, 12-6, to win the S. Washington State Championship. Kennewick started the game off with 5 quick runs in the first inning en route to a 12-6 win and the Southern Washington Babe Ruth 13's Title. John Hamilton (3), Jesse Houser (2 1/3), and Blue Chavez (1 2/3) combined on the win. Bryce Jackson was 2-2 with 3RBI, Matt Mendenhall was 2-4, and Paul Hamada was 2-4 with a 2B. Kennewick will travel to Bozeman, Montana, for the Pacific Northwest Regional Tournament, July 27th through August 2nd. Congratulations and good luck at Regionals.

2007 District 5 Champs!

The Kennewick Babe Ruth 13's play in the District Tournament July 13th through July 16th at Pasco. In their opening game, the Kennewick 13's opened with a 16-3 win over Richland. Drew Oord and Ty Jackson each pitched 3 innings in the win. Offensively, Blue Chavez was 3-3 with a 2B, 2RBI, and 3 Runs Scored, Ty Jackson was 3-4, 1RBI, and 3 Runs Scored, Matt Mendenhall was 2-4 with 3RBI, Chris Haueter was 2-4 with a 2B and 1RBI, Bryce Jackson was 2-4 with a 2B and 1RBI, and Mike McAdie was 2-5 with 1RBI and scored 2 Runs. In Friday's late game, the Kennewick 13's defeated Clarkston by a 8-3 final. Bryce Jackson threw 4 no-hit innings. Offensively, Matt Mendenhall was 2-4 with a 2B and 3RBI, Bryce Jackson was 1-1 with 2B and 1 RBI, Blue Chavez was 1-3 with a 2B. The Kennewick 13's defeated Pasco by a 15-2 final to earn a spot in Sunday's championship game. Blue Chavez scattered 3 hits and allowed 1 run over 4 innings. Drew Oord and Ty Jackson each threw 1 inning. Matt Mendenhall was 3-5 with 1 RBI, Mike McAdie was 2-3 with 3 Runs Scored, Trek Stemp was 2-4 with 4 Runs Scored, Drew Oord was 2-5 with 2 RBI. Kennewick advances from the winners bracket to the championship game (Sunday at 1:30) in the double elimination tournament. The Kennewick 13's defeated Pasco by a 26-5 final to win the District Championship. The offensive displayed its muscle in the win. Drew Oord was 5-6 with 5 RBI and scored 3 runs, Blue Chavez was 4-5 with 1 RBI and scored 3 runs, Bryce Jackson was 3-4 with 2 RBI and scored 4 runs, Ty Jackson was 2-3 with 2 RBI and scored 2 runs, Justin Pedley was 2-4 with 3 RBI and scored 4 runs, Trek Stemp was 2-5 with 2 RBI and scored 2 runs, Matt Mendenhall was 2-6 with 5 RBI, including a bases clearing triple. Ty Jackson, Drew Oord and Jesse Houser took care of Richland on the mound. Congratulations on the District title and good luck at State!
