The Phillies collect their third tie in a long game against the Rangers.
Sara Moses started pitching for the Phillies and did a great job, keeping the Rangers scoreless in the first. The Rangers' Fitzgerald came in throwing gas and shutdown the first three Phillies batters. Jenny Hadley took the mound of the Phillies in the second, and kept them scoreless! Fitzgerald kept the Rangers from scoring in the bottom of the second as well. In the top of the third, with controversial walk (or was it strike out!), the Rangers were able to put 2 runs on the board. In the bottom of the third, with some patience from the Phillies' batters, and a single from Julie Bernard, the Phillies were up 5-2. In the top of the fourth, the Rangers came back and scored 5, with singles from Emily and Kelbi. In the bottom of the fourth, the Rangers' Fitzgerald returned to the mound, but the Phillies kept focused, and with a single from Tess, and a grounder by Gina, the Phillies added another run, to make it 7-6. In the top of the fifth, the Rangers added one more with singles from Kelly, Kelsey and Christine. The Phillies' Bernard was able to strike out the last two batters for the final outs. The Rangers were up 8-6. In the bottom of the fifth, Julie and Shaina both started with singles, and then moved over on a double steal. Lindsay hit Julie in, cutting the Rangers' lead to 1. Katherine hit a single, scoring Shaina, tying up the game. The Rangers were able to get the third out before the Rangers were able to get the lead. The final score was 8-8. Great game by both teams! |
