Fury Players Take a Winter Break for High School Sports

High School Soccer

Our very own Jamie Van Horn (1996), has been called up to participate in the U.S. Under-15 Girls' National Camp, being held November 20-27, 2011 at The Home Depot Center.  This is her first national event and we wish her the best of luck.

May 2011

Mustang player Haley Lukas, had a very successful Varsity Track season this spring.  Only a freshman, Haley captured the title of FHS Player of the year, and was a finalist in the 200m, 400m, and 4x 400m for NCS and the EBAL Chamionships.  Haley was also named EBAL All League for the 4x 400.  She is blazing fast, Great job Haley!

Mustang Fury Players Recieve High School Soccer Awards 2011 

Taygan Grundy recieves MVAL All-League Honorable Mention as a freshman and is awarded Mission San Jose High School Rookie of the Year!

Melissa Lewis is named East Bay Athlete of the Week, Feb. 2011 for her strong performance during the NCS games.

Jessica Gillespie is named SRVH Boosters Athlete of the Month for February 2011 for her strong play on the San Ramon High School JV soccer team.

Haley Lukas is named Foothill High Athlete of the Month for December 2010 as a freshman on the Varsity team.

Gabbi DeSanti Awarded the Brandi Chastain ReachUp Award

One of our newest players, Gabbi DeSanti, was recently presented with the Brandi Chastain ReachUp Award at Brandi's testimonial game. This award was given to a youth soccer player that has overcome obstacles related to soccer.  Gabbi recently recovered from back surgery to correct severe scolisosis.  Gabby had a 60 degree curve at the top of her back and 48 degree curve at the bottom.  At first she was told that she would not be able to play soccer again but with the help of a wonderful surgeon, Gabbi is back on the field and now playing with the Mustang Fury.  Congratulations!   

August 2010

Midfielder Melissa Lewis was named to the ECNL Fall National Showcase All-Event Team in Temecula, California for U-15 which took place August 27-29, 2010.  Melissa played strong over the three game weekend scoring two of the Fury's four goals.  We're So Proud of You!

Nor Cal Premier PDP Extends Invitation to Fury Player Makenna Kummer

Makenna is one of 18 Cal North Players to recieve an invite only roster spot for the M.T.C. Girls Showcase with Mike Dickey U17-15 National Coach on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 in Santa Rosa, Ca.   A National Camp invitation could result from a steller performance.  Good Luck Makenna!

Balancing Spring High School Soccer and Club proves to be a success for Alyssa Herwatt, freshman Varsity player at Justin-Siena High School in Napa.

Although Alyssa was unable to fully commit to her high school team due to obligations with Club and ODP teams, she still made quite an impression and was one of only three high school freshman to receive Marin County Athletic League (MCAL) recognition and was named All-League Honorable Mention as a midfielder.  Alyssa was also awarded Napa All-County Second Team, one of only two freshman to be recognized in the local county.

Alyssa Herwatt Heads to Costa Rica with 95 Regional ODP Team

Fury player Alyssa Herwatt has been invited to the 95 Region IV trip to Costa Rica which will take place March 22-30, 2010.  She is among the 18 player roster who will be traveling and will be coached by Neil McGuire.

Mustang Fury Players Recieve High School Soccer Awards

Ashley Christensen, starting defender for the Carondelet High School JV team, ended the season with a list of awards after completing her first season of high school soccer.  Among them were the JV Coaches Award, MVP Best Defensive Player, and NCS Scholar Athlete.  Congratulations Ashley!

Mustang Fury Player Makenna Kummer was also recognized for her contributions on her high school team.  Starting forward for San Ramon High School JV team, Makenna was named SRVH Boosters Athlete of the Month for December 2009.  She also helped lead her team to the title of East Bay Athletic League Champions for 2010. 

January 2010

Three players from the Mustang Fury have been selected to participate in the Region IV ODP Championships January 16-19 in Phoenix, Arizona. Alessandra Dutto (forward) and Alyssa Herwatt (defensive center midfielder) will be traveling with the 94 Cal North State Team. Haley Lukus (outside midfielder) has been rostered on the 93 Cal North State Team. Both teams will be traveling with 18 players.  Winners of the 93 and 94 age groups will travel to Phoenix in March for the US Youth Soccer National ODP Championships.  For details and game results visit the Region IV website at http://www.regioniv.com/odp/championships.htm

Mustang Fury players Allie Dutto and Alyssa Herwatt are among the 18 Regional Pool players selected to travel with the '95 Region IV ODP Team and compete at the US Youth ODP Thanksgiving Inter-Regionals in Coral Springs, Florida from November 21st-27th. During the week, they will train and compete against the other three '95 teams from regions I, II, and III. The Region IV Team is coached by Neil McGuire/head coach, and assistant coaches Philippe Blin and Joey Hoffman.  Both girls were selected to the Regional Pool this past summer.

Dutto Selected to the U14 US National Pool after attending the National ID camp

A great accomplishment for team member Allie Dutto who was selected to the U14 National Pool after attending the U14 National ID camp at Cal Poly Pomona in July.  Out of 101 girls from across the nation that were invited to the ID camp, Allie was among the 36 girls who made the National Pool and participated in the US National training camp held at the Home Depot Center in late August 2009.
