The A Cats dropped a heartbreaker to a good Riverton squad. Leading most of the way with Brandon C. on the mound, late errors spelled the Wildcats doom. With a quick start and leading 3-0 through 3, a rocky defense gave Riverton an opening and, with some hard shots thrown in, allowed Riverton to tie things up. The Cats scored to take the lead back in the bottom of the 4th. CJ G came on in relief in the 5th and the Cat attack pushed another run, but Riverton hit the ball well in the 7th and 2 critical errors allowed a rally and a Riverton 6-5 lead. The Cats couldn't get the tying run across in the bottom and took the disappointing 1 run loss.
Final Score  Riverton 6  Wildcats 5

The Cats offense and a good complete game pitching performance by CJ G put the A Cats back in the win column. The Cats had several players contribute at the plate, most everone reached at least once with multiple hits from Tyler H., Brandon C., Adam M. and CJ G (and probably others) to take the 10-4 victory. A solid performance by the Cats.

The Cats took on Ft Payne for the first time in 2005, and opened well. CJ got the start and allowed 2 unearned runs, 1 in each of the 1st two innings, and the Cats fell behind 2-0. The Cats offense broke through in the 3rd with a huge 2 out rally. After Chris T reached on a fielders choice, Tyler H delivered a single to move Chris to 3rd. Tyler swipped 2nd to set up Brandon C who delivered a clutch 2 out double to right and plate 2 runs to even the score at 2. Corey N then stepped up and delivered another clutch  shot to center to drive in Brandon with the go ahead and eventual winning run. CJ made it stand up, shuting out Ft Payne's batters the rest of the way for a complete game 3-2 win. Good job boys!

Cats take on Central Middle on the Road

March 29
The Jr. High Cats took on a familiar and tough foe in Central Middle School for the second series in a row. Once again Middle came with their ace, D. Moore for the third A game of the season. Tne Cat attck jumped out early, scoring a run and losing a second on a TERRIBLE call with the ump calling Corey N out on an apparent scoring play at the plate. The Cats saw home cooking in action!
The A Cats started Tyler H, but a bit of control trouble and a hot Central squad jumped out early. CJ G came on in relief to quiet things down and did a good job from the mound but the Central offense pushed 5 across to take the lead. The Cats battled offisively all game, again leaving a ton of runners stranded on base looking for a key hit that never seemed to come. The A Cats played them even after one but couldn't dent the deficit, falling 6-2 for the second game in a row.
B game
The Cats started out hitting the ball, but too many errors took the game out of reach. Conner did well on the mound as a starter but didn't get the support. The B Cats fell 12-3 in the final outing with Central for the year.

Cats take on Central Middle at Veterans

March 24
The A Cats dropped game 1 to Central Middle 6-2. Central came with their ace, D. Moon and Scottsboro countered with CJ G. CJ had battled sickness all week and gut checked his way through. Central showed their hitting ability to the Cats again, and made every hit count. The A Cats got several hits but couldn't string things together, leaving many runners stranded on base, but made enough noise to get Moore out after 5. A bases loaded final inning fizzled as Central kept getting out of a jam with a double play or something at the right time.

B Cats
The B Cats went in game 2 and basically took on the same Central squad as the As. Brandon C took the mound and went through Central with no problem. The Cat attack was working in the first as the Cats got on an opening rally and scored 5 quick runs. Brandon pitched a beauty through 4 and was in complete control, no hitting Central and never getting threatened. The Cats managed another run & went to the 5th and final inning with a 6 run edge. In the 5th Brandon tired and Middle led off with their first hit and a walk. Then several defensive miscues and a hit and walk latter the Cats found themselves in trouble. A typical rally, give them some breaks, throw in a couple of dinky hits just over the infield or rolling "bunts" just out of reach, and the Cats just couldn't shut it down. Central pulled even at 6 and Brandon gave way to Tyler H, but the rally was on and Central pushed 2 more across. The Cats managed a runner or two in the bottom but couldn't make up the deficit, falling 8-6 in a real heartbreaker. Congrats to a gutsy Central bunch on a valent comeback effort.
