Titans Ttake Second in LaPorte!

Posted by Gary Flaharty on Apr 06 2005 at 05:00PM PDT
The 14 year old Titans have another good weekend but come up one game short. The tournament started with a 14 hit 16 run game as the Titans beat the Sylvan Beach Titans 16 to 0. The second game proved to be a little more challenging. The Southeast Texas Rangers held the Titans  to 8 hit and 7 runs. The top of the 5th inning had the Titans down 7 to 4 with time running out . A double an error a couple of walks and a clutch 2 out single tied the game. The game ended in a tie but the days effort was good enough for a second seed. Sunday started with a surprise as the Sylvan Beach Titans made it to the semifinals. The battle of the Titans was a bit different the second time around. The KC Titans produced 12 hits and 8 runs  the SB Titans did not roll over, as in the first encounter, with a 6 hit 5 run resistance. Although not as impressive as 16 to 0 an 8 to 5 win sent the KC Titans to the championship game.   The night started rainy with some Thunder. Little did the Titans know the Thunder would dominate the night. The Texas Thunder not only silenced the Titans bats , allowing only 5 hits and 2 runs they lit up the sky with 11 hits and 10 runs. The rain dampened the night but not the Titans spirits. There were many bright spots, Great pitching performances by Travis Herrera, Tyler Walker, Neal Dennison and Richard Ownby. Offensive power by Josh Hill, Lukas Forsythe, Travis Wadman, Cody Mahula, Colby Stafford, Robert Frazier, Oliver Huang, Chris Minifee, Richard Ownby, Travis Herrera, John Hohlt and John Satriano. Great Defensive by Travis Wadman, James Thoreen, Cody Mahula, John Satriano, Richard Ownby, Robert Frazier, Colby Stafford, Lukas Forsythe, Chris Minifee and Neal Dennison. Last but not least Oliver Huang who did a great job catching all 4 games. GO TITANS!
