Meet the 2006 Comets Red Team

Posted by Kurt Coleman on Jul 02 2005 at 05:00PM PDT
Player Position Height Comet Since.. HS Class Bio
G/F 5'10" 1999 Boone 2007 One of only two remaining original Comets, Briyanna's stingy defense is at the heart of the Comets' full court press. Brea is deceptively quick and able to finish with either hand. Brea's shoulder surgery will keep her sidelined until early July.

Brown, Tierra

#15

G 5'6" 2001 TFA 2007 A crafty lefty, Tierra attacks the rim and finishes as well as anyone in her class. Her ability to play point guard or shooting guard gives the Comets a versatility that not many teams possess.

Coleman, Jordan

#23

G/F 5'11" 2005 Lake Mary 2008 Jordan is a rebounder and a shot blocker. Her leaping ability and quick first step are her primary assets. Jordan averaged a double double in her sophomore season and won MVP honors at the state finals.

Deluzio, Alexa

#3

G 5'9" 2001 TFA 2008 A shooting guard, Alexa is the Comets' leading scorer. She has excellent moves in open court and shoots 60% from the field. Like Tierra, she moves seamlessly between point guard and shooting guard.

Givens, Jamie

#14

F 6'1" 2002 TFA 2007 A long range shooting guard, Jamie has developed into a more versatile player this year. Still, don't leave her open. Her range starts in the parking lot.

Shields, Samantha

#42

G 5'9" 2006 Trinity Prep 2007 An All Central Florida selection in 2006, Samantha averaged a triple double for Trinity Prep. Samantha played for the Comets Blue team in 2004.
G 5'3" 1999 Edgewater 2008 An original Comet, Brooke is another guard combo player--able to play the one or two spot interchangeably. Brooke has arguably the quickest pull up jumper in the state. But her true value to the team resides in her court smarts and leadership abilities. She is cool and calm under any type of pressure. Brooke takes and makes the big shots.
C 6'4" 2004 TFA 2007 Krystal Thomas is the Comets' mainstay in the paint. She robs opposing teams of points with her ability to block or alter shots. Krystal won Player of the Year honors from the Orlando Sentinel, averaged a double-double and led her high school team to a state championship.
G/F 5'9" 2004 Wesley Chapel 2007 Stephanie, who lives in Clearwater, came to the Comets after the team merged with the Orlando Lightning. She is small forward with a deadly midrange jumper and excellent court vision.
