2013 AO Junior Seniors

Burlington Track Club brings home medals from the 2013 Ontario Track and Field Championships

 July 20, 21 2013 York University 

Burlington Track Club athletes brought home medals and performance times from last weekend’s Ontario Junior and Senior Championships at York University. Mary Ollier qualified with a 15.28 100m hurdle effort in the heats then  bronze medaled with a  15.19  final time.  Silver medalist, Taysia  Radoslav upped the ante with a silver over the 400m  hurdles in a time of  1:02.52.   

Zaria Armstrong   ran a 12.42 100m with team mate Savannah Simpson in 12.66. Simpson later followed up with a 200m effort in 25.98 as did Radoslav in a time of 25.41.  Rounding out the womens efforts Caitlin McClurkin grabbed the womens long jump bronze medal with a distance of 5.35m

 In the mens sprints Tyler Hopkins ran 11.25 for 100m. Wesley Miller ran 23.44 and Brock Martin 24.81 in the 200m.

The clubs top 10 performances for the jumps and throws placed Jared Morrow 6th at a height of 1.85m in the high jump.  Andrew Eskandar placed 8th in the junior  6 kilo shot and 9th in discus.

In the senior 100m Mike Boucher ran 11.18. Conor Fanning continued a solid 110m hurdle seasonal effort by qualifying with 14.68 to a 7th place finish in the hurdle final.  Hopkins, Boucher, Miller and Martin scooped the senior mens 4x100 silver medal to wrap up the weekend.

Burlington Track Club wraps up outdoor season at Bantam Midget Youth championships.

July 27, 28  2013 York University

 Burlington Track Club brought home more silver through the strong efforts of  Zaria Armstrong (100m, 12.59) and Taysia Radoslav (300m hurdles, 43.61).  Both Armstrong, a midget age class athlete and Radoslav (25.41) in the youth class 200m picked up 5th place finishes in the 200m.  Megan Jenkinson (midget) competed in the 100m as did Savannah Simpson (youth) ranking 10th with 12.85 seconds.

Alex Radcliff established top 12 finishes in the youth 800m (2:24.53)  and 1500m (5:00.66).  

Youth age class throwers Monica Thomson ( javelin, 6th place) matched Andrew Eskandar for his 6th place shot put.  Eskandar  later picked up a 10th place final rank in discuss.  

While the Clubs junior section is on a break several senior athletes will close out the season at sanctioned twilight venues in southern Ontario. Tasia Radoslav, Zaria Armstrong and Savannah Simpson will compete at the Legion Canadian Youth Track and Field Championships in Langley BC from Aug 9th. All the best to thier endeavours.  

The Club thanks our many members and volunteers for their help and efforts this season and especially thanks the Burlington Runners Club for their sponsorship. The Track club looks forward to the growing relationship and mentorship. The Burlington Track & Field Club has over 80 athletes ranging from ages 7 to 18 (many competing in the Minor Track Association or Athletics Ontario).The Burlington Runners Club has 200 members ranging in ages from 15 to 75 (actively running).

Both clubs are thriving within the heart of Burlington, Ontario and promote running within the community.

Senior Men 

Conor Fanning: 13th in Canada in the 60m hurdles. 27th in Ontario 60 metres

Junior Men
Ken Slessor: 14th in Ontario in the 300m, 19th in the 60m hurdles and  22nd in the 400 metres 
Mike Boucher: 25 in Ontario in the 60 metres in his last indoor meet as a junior
Kyle Daines: 18th in Ontario in the 60m hurdles 
Wes Miller: 32 in Ontario in the 200 metres
Brock Martin: 33 in Ontario in the 300 metres and 47th in the 400metres. 
Tyler Hopkins: 43 in Ontario in the 60 metres in his first track season. 

Youth Boys
Daniel Rooks: Posted two personal bests in his first indoor season. 

Junior Girls 
Mary Ollier: 17th in Ontario in the 60m hurdles and 27th in the 60 metres

Youth Girls
Taysia Radoslav: 4th in Canada in the 300m and 5th in Canada in the 400 metres.  She is also 7th in Ontario in the 200 metres. 
Savannah Simpson: 9th in Ontario in the 200 metres and 19th in the 60 metres 

Midget Girls
Zaria Armstrong: 1st in Ontario in the 60 metres and 2nd in the 200 metres.  Sadly they don't rank midgets across  Canada but Zaria would be 2nd in the 60metres by only 1/100th of a second.
