A Note from the Coach... August 13, 2006 Ballard and I would like to thank all the players who attended tryouts . WOW! what great talent and skills we could have fielded a few teams around just these groups that showed up. We saw great fielding, batting and pitching. We have offered some players positions on our 2006-07 team already and filled our Roster for 2006-2007. Please understand that not getting a call to play a position on the Rockets team does not mean that you will not excel at the game of softball. On the contrary the players skills might be perfect for another team in the Metro for this next season. Once again thanks to all who participated in our tryouts. And hope to share the dirt with you soon. 2006-2006 Rockets Roster Anna Cole Kaley Patterson Raigan Cook Laura Vickers Mariah Stortzum Megan McCracken Sarah Baldwin Megan Bryde Jena Hotujac Ashley Tiefel Ashtin Stephens Taylor Lipps Congratulations Ladies!!! Rockets place 16th during the AFA Nationals held at OGSA. July 30, 2006 The Olathe Rockets 14U Vickers took part in the AFA Nationals held at OGSA in Olathe, Kansas July 25 - 31st. After the opening ceremonies on Monday the team took the field on Tuesday and Wednesday for pool play to take a 3rd seed into the brackets on Thursday. Fighting all the way through Friday the Rockets played through some very tough competition on Friday to end up in the losers bracket Friday night. With only 16 teams out of 65 left at Nationals the Olathe Rockets - Vickers 14U A team took the field against the Southern Express team out of Illinois on Saturday morning. After a long battle the Rockets failed to get a run in and lost to a very good team 8-0 eliminating the Rockets for the tournament. This marks the end of another great season for the Rockets and while a few players will depart for 16U teams you can count on the strong team to compete again next year in 14U.
Rockets place in the top 6 of 20 teams during the Iowa "ASA Flower Power" Round Robin tournament this weekend. June 12, 2006.

The Rockets-Vickers took on some new competition during the Iowa ASA Flower Power Tournament this weekend. The format allowed for a 9 game guarantee playing 5 games on Saturday and 4 on Sunday. Saturday morning's weather was cold and rainy but no lightning was spotted in the area so the Rockets got started and played with a miserable wet drizzle for the first three games before it let up. After a short break in the weather the Rockets finished Saturday with a 4-1 record, good enough to earn a 3rd seed into the Championship division for Sunday's games. Sunday morning was cold with no rain but the Rocket's seemed to be out of fuel when it came to fielding and allowed the teams to take a early lead and couldn't get back up on top and hold on. They finished the tournament 5-4 taking 6th place out of 20 teams.

The Coaches have given them the week off from practices so heal back up and catch some much needed rest until the scheduled league games this Thursday night. Our next Tournament will be the KC Metro's June 24th and 25th at OGSA.
