Royals fall in Twin bill...

Game 1 - Royal's beat themselves in the field... Royals PotG - Rooker Game 1 started off badly for the Royals, and they were not able to dig themselves out of the mess they made. Down by 5 after only 2 hits in the 1st, the Royals had their work cut out for them. After a few hits, the Royals were able to score a pair and shave the youngster's lead to within 3 runs. But, that was as close as the Royals would get, as the Sox managed to match the royals run for run. Unfortunately, the Royals let the Sox escape when they failed to post any runs in the 6th. Down 14-6 going into the bottom of the seventh the Royals did all the could to muster a comeback. With the help of some errant pitching and a few singles, the Royals managed to score a handful, and finish the game down by a touchdown at 11-17. Mental mistakes and errors prove once again to be our worst enemy. Offensively the Royals were able to record 5 extra base hits (3 2B & 2 3B), and were led by Rooker (2-3,1 run, 1 BB, 2 RBI), Lynch (2-3, 1 2B, 1 SB, 1 BB, 1 RBI). Game 2 - Royal's fight for their life... Royals co-PotG - Royals Bash Brothers Runyon/Rooker Game 2 once again saw the Royal's fall into a hole early on 2 costly errors in the 1st, leading to 3 runs for the Sox ( which ultimately proved to be the difference). The Royals bats woke up from their slumber to hammer out 7 extra base hits in the game (3 2B & 4 3B). The Royals tallied 4 triples on the game, 3 hit in the air to the deepest part of the park (dang MLB dimensions). Credit goes to the Sox in the first 2 innings, as they buckeled down to only allow only 1 run after the Royals loaded the bases twice. Down 8-1 after 2, the Royals began their fight. After a triple and a walk, Lynch drove in a pair off a double to left center. In the fifth, the Royals scored their 4th run of the game after a pair of triples from Rooker and Runyon. Down 10-5 going into the seventh, the Royals sent 9 of their 12 hitters to the plate. Off 3 straight hits from Franklin, Rooker, & Runyon they were able to plate 3 to cut the Sox lead to 2, but the Sox were able to field a hard hit grounder by Big TJ Conley to finish the Royals off. The game ended with the Royals down 8-10. Offensively the Royals own Bash Brothers (Rooker & Runyon) combined to go 5-5, 4 runs, 1 2B, 3 3B, 3 BB, 3 RBI. Individually, Rooker went ( 3-3, 3 runs, 1 2B, 2 3B, 1 BB, 1 RBI) and Runyon went ( 2-2, 1 run, 1 3B, 2 BB, 2 RBIs.) Game 3 - Return of the Geezers To be played on Sunday August 1st with the part of Han Solo played by Ron Runyon, Vadar by Mark Franklin, Luke Skywalker by TJ Dean, Chewie by Eric Jamison, Lando by Tim Payne, Yoda by Neil Lynch, Leah by Sara Schwab, Porkins by TJ Conley, and cursing C3P0 by Chad Campbell. image

Unranked Kettering Royals upset #3 Ohio Woodpeckers 5-3 in Round robin play... The Kettering Royals, who are off to a slow start this season, found their first win of the season in a 5-3 battle against the Ohio Woodpeckers. The Royals got a great 7 inning complete game from rookie pitcher Jace Anders. The Royals went up first with a 2 run HR off the bat of rookie Ron Runyon. The peckers battle back to go up 3-2 entering the top of the seventh when the Royals came to the plate. Patient batters got the bases loaded with a pair of walks and a single off the bat of Jason Errett. Helping his own cause, Jace Anders scored 2 on a double to right center putting the Royals up 4-3. The Royals added one more when TJ Conly scored on a pass ball. In the bottom of the seventh, up 2, Anders finished it out getting the peckers out 1, 2, 3 to end the game. A hard fought game by both teams, but the Royals hung tough notching their first "W" of the season, and the peckers only loss in the round robin session.
