Grant Johnson will be joining the HOOTS coaching staff for this coming year.  He will be coaching 3rd base and working with Coach Johns and learning offense strategy with Chabot College Coach Johnny Rodrigues.  Grant is a former HOOTS infielder on the 2001 team that won a American Legion California State Championship, Western Regional Championship and returned to the World Series the year following the National Championship in 2000 which is a feat rarely achieved. Many members of that team like Nate Schierholtz have had successful college and professional carrers.  Grant played his college baseball at Whittier College and is currently the varsity assistant at Monte Vista High School.  Welcome back, Grant Johnson!

The HOOTS finished in 3rd Place at the Perfect Game National Wood Bat Championship held at the East Cobb Baseball Complex in Marietta, Georgia.  This tournament features the top teams throughout the nation.  The HOOTS finished with a record of 6-1.  They advanced for the first time to the Final Four Round where they were defeated by Chet Lemmon Juice of Florida.  Chet Lemmon went on to the final game to win the National Championship.

The team had outstanding games against nationally ranked teams.  In the medal round the team defeated the Atlanta Braves Scout team and the 2nd Seed in the tournament.  Several players had outstanding performance during the tournament and won recognition on the All Tournament Teams selected by PG.  Pitchers Nick Ousman, Josh Slatts and Robbie LeClair.  Infielders Steve Piscotty and Steve Cunha.  Outfielders Adam Greenberg, Brad Jones and Ryan Lucas.

The 2007 HOOTS won their first ever Connie Mack Northern California Championship with a victory over Santa Rosa Connie Mack 14-2 in the Section Championship game on Sunday July 22 at James Logan High School.  The HOOTS have advanced to the Connie Mack Western Region Tournament the last week of July held at University of California at Irvine in Orange, California.  The winner advances to the Connie Mack World Series held in Farmington, New Mexico.

The HOOTS finished the Northern California Section Tournament undefeated with a record of 5-0.  Robbie LeClair pitched in two of the victories with one being the championship game.  Nick Ousman and Josh Slatts both had complete game victories on the mound for the HOOTS.

Solid pitching, defense and timely offense led by Steve Piscotty, Adam Greenberg and Ken Arnerich led the HOOTS through the tournament to secure the Championship. Piscotty hit two home runs in the semi final game against the Californnia Smoke.

This being only the second season the HOOTS have competed in Connie Mack Baseball the 2007 team will be recognized as a ground breaker for others to surpass.

Entering the Connie Mack Western Regional Championship the HOOTS overall record stand at 36 wins against 6 losses.  The 2006 Regional Connie Mack Champioship was won the the Arizona Firebirds who return to the 2007 tournament.  The HOOTS remain the lone Northern California Connie Mack team and will compete with 2 teams from Washington, 2 Arizona teams, and 3 Southern California teams.

The HOOTS won the 19th annual Josh Anderson Sierra Nevada tournament for the second year in a row held at University of Nevada, Reno June 22-27.  The tournament is host to 12 of the top teams in the western United States and represented by teams from Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Oklahoma and California.

The HOOTS defeated Chaffey baseball club of Seattle, Wa in the Championship game in extra innings 3-2.  This is the third year in a row these two clubs have faced each other in the championship which the HOOTS have won for the past 2 years.

The championship game saw outstanding pitching by Kenny Arnerich and Robbie LeClair.  Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the eighth inning, the game was won on a line drive double from Ryan Lucas to score two runs for a walk off victory and the championship trophy.

The team completed pool play 3-1 and went on to win all 3 games in the medal round to finish the tournament with a overall record of 6-1.

Several HOOTS players received All Tournament recognition.  Nick Ousman was selected MVP Pitcher.  Steve Cunha was All Tournament Infield, and both Brad Jones and Ryan Lucas were selected to the All Tournament team for Outfield.
