Ellon & University Update

Posted by Gordon Humble at Oct 14, 2015 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Well a couple of weeks have passed since my last blether and I would like to say we are looking to be moving in the right direction.

On the 3rd of October we travelled away from home at Ellon in the league. This was a game which we should have taken points from and  created enough chances to win the game twice but it was not to be, going down 3-2 to a goal in the last 5 minutes of the game. However, this did not deter the players and if anything gave us plenty of encouragement for our next game.

We continued on our travels and met  Aberdeen University in the GA Inter Region Cup where we won 2-0 against a strong and physically fit team, which was always going to be the case. The game turned out to be our 1st clean sheet and 2nd win since coming on board.

Onto the squad - The players are picking up on the fitness, especially the players that have joined the club in recent weeks. They all seem to be settling into the rigours of the Junior game which is pleasing for Graeme, Paul and I.

However with the games we have played we have seen a spate of injuries where the squad  have been reduced in fit players. Mid to long term injuries have occurred to Darren Reid, Stuart Rogie and just last week Taylor Christie where we are still waiting to get the full diagnosis and timescale on his return from the medical staff.

In between this we have also seen other players pick up niggly little injuries out for a week or 2 but they are making their way back and returning to full training this week so should be available for selection soon. These are just the day to day happenings in any sport and we must ensure we can cope with this not just now but in the coming months.

This week-end sees us start a flurry of three home games on the trot. This weekend entertaining Hermes FC in the league. Let’s hope next week’s report is all good from the game. Until then see you at Milton Park!

First Blether

Posted by Gordon Humble at Oct 11, 2015 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Hello Everyone! Here goes what I hope will be the 1st of many weekly status reports on the Banchory St. Ternan squad seen from the dugout. Joining me during these small blethers will be the other members of the Management team, Graeme and Paul where we will give you our feedback from pitch side from the week-end’s result. Since our appointment at the start of September we have worked together with the current signed players at the club but realised at the start that more players were required. This we have done in the short time here and managed to bring in 7 or 8 new faces to bolster the squad. This we hope will see us progress in the coming months up the Super league. The scouting for new players is going to be continuous though and we hope where possible we look to utilise the local talent that is on our doorstep to achieve this. On to the games so far:- The games to date have been a mixed bag of results, losing two and winning one. However, what we have seen from the guys is one common denominator. COMMITMENT! When we lost to Hall Russells in the league in our first gam, we then pulled off a deserved win up at Dufftown to get 3 points on the board. The squad showed desire to not give up and rightly got the result on the day. We have seen at training a great attitude by the players and although we went down by the odd goal in 3 against East End in the Scottish Junior Cup, we deserved better. The goal is always to go out there and win but if that is not possible it is important that we learn from the games' positives and negatives to make as better and wiser.
