XMAS & NEW YEAR

Posted by Gordon Humble on Dec 14 2015 at 04:00PM PST

Just to say that’s us just concluded our final game of 2015. What a game and result to finish 2015!

However, before I speak about that game  we did have a blip a couple of weeks ago when we did not play well against Maud. The result was a bad one losing 4-2 at home; especially having come back from 2-0 down to be level with 7 minutes to go. This was a real disappointment especially having managed to grab a last minute equaliser the week before against Culter.

Not what the Doctor had ordered before the final game against rivals Cutler again! So last week we met for the 3rd time in 6 weeks. Having lost the 1st encounter and drawing the 2nd the 3rd was always going to be interesting.

This was to be a near perfection display with a thoroughly well-deserved win 6 to nil in our favour. The performance by all that took part was fantastic. Graeme, Paul and I have worked hard to instil belief, composure and determination into the guys and on the 12th of December it all clicked.

The best accolade that can be bestowed on the players was the after match applause from both sets of supporters as they trouped off the field – fitting that even in defeat Culter FC supporters and Committee were able to do this for the boys. Very impressed and thank you Culter.

So that’s our first kind of half season over. I would like to think if a report card was made out on the performances to date it would read – Team and players improving every week. However there is still room to progress in the 2nd half of the season.

Our goal is to maintain a position in the Super league which we know is still a big task but hope we can take what we have learned in the 10-12 games so far and make it work.

Finally I would just like to thank all of the players, committee and not by any means least the support we have received since taking over. The players appreciate the crowds that are now coming to the home games and even the away ones which is building great morale in the team camp.

Here‘s to a Very Merry Christmas and Prosperous New Year!

Mon the Saints!
