Final Info for West Yellowstone Trip

Posted by David Kask at Nov 14, 2006 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
Hello Traveling Skiers, By now I'm sure all of you have been getting your skis out, travel waxed, your other gear accounted for and your clothes set out for the big trip. By now everyone should have all their forms and money to Bonnie. If you don't get it to her today or call her and make arrangements. We will be riding in two large coach buses. Each will be full (i.e. no seats empty) to the brim. So to get everyone's stuff on the bus we all will have to limit what we take. Take enough ski clothes to ski twice a day and a minimal amount of other clothes. There are washers and driers in the hotel on our floor and we will even provide laundry soap so you can wash things if you have to. In the past we have filled up the luggage space on the buses and they weren't even full of skiers. I would hate to have to leave stuff in the parking lot because we can't get it in. We get lots of questions about how much money you will need. Well...on the ride out we will stop a couple of times for snacks and for breakfast Saturday morning. While in West Yellowstone you will have to by food for lunch and then buy two dinners. (Parents give your skiers some ideas for things to buy at the grocery store. They will have a small refrigerator and a microwave.) On the way home again there will be snack stops and a breakfast stop. There are a couple of souvenir shops open and a ski shop or two. In general we think $100 should easily cover your needs. The buses will be leaving the lower parking lot at Duluth East at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Please be there by 4:30 to load the bus. The sooner we leave the more skiing we get on Saturday. For those of you left at home I will try to get someone to write a daily blog and I will post it and any pictures I get on this web site each night. Check back often to see what we are up to. If you have any questions please give Bonnie or me a call. See you Friday, Dave & Bonnie 724-2775image

Hello Duluth East Skiers, First I would like to congratulate everyone for getting through the first hard workout of the season. With hard work and dedication to the team we will have great results at the State Meet this year. I would like to thank Midnight Sun for hosting the Duluth East skiers last night. I think everyone had a good time. For those of you that don't have all your fees and paperwork in please get it to Bonnie as soon as possible. Today would be great. The practice schedule for the next couple of weeks is: Wednesday 11/15 & Thursday 11/16 - Snowflake 4:00 (bus will be running) Friday 11/17 through Sunday 11/26 - run or ski on your own - The workouts are in the guide book - do them. If there is snow I am sure that Snowflake will be open and you can ski there. (no bus) Monday 11/27 - Snowflake at 4:00 and the bus will be running again Check the team phone line (728-1811) for up to the minute changes. Think Snow (and cold), Dave

Below is an excerpt from the Rendezvous Trail Report Sunday, November 12: Yesterday's storm dropped about 8 inches of new snow. Doug Edgerton packed and rolled Rendezvous, Deja View and Washburn again last night and then groomed this morning. Skiing today was terrific and you could almost get away with using your good skis. There is more snow in the forecast - stay tuned! For up to date trail information click on the link below. Rendezvous Ski Trail Reportsimage
