This week at Duluth East Nordic

Hello Skiers and Parents,

This week we will have our first race of the year at Mt. Itasca on Saturday, December 10.  It will be a freestyle race about 4 km in length for Varsity and Jr. Varsity skiers and about 3 km for Jr. High and Novice skiers.  The racing will start at 11:00.  Skiers must signup for the race at Snowflake by the end of practice on Wednesday. 

Ski suits- This year we are starting a new policy of requiring a deposit for team ski suits.  A form explaining the policy will be handed out at practice begining Monday. Ski suits will be handed out to those that have their deposit check on Wednesday and Thursday at practice. 

We will be having a team dinner on Friday.  The cost is $5.  We will also be waxing skis for Saturday's race on Friday.

Snow in West Yellowstone

Hi All,

West Yellowstone reports that it has receive 3 inches of snow so far this week with more expected.  The temperatures are forcasted to stay below freezing.

The Rendezvous Ski Trails has asked us to have everyone getting a ski pass to sign their waiver.  So please print out the waiver in the handout below and bring it signed to the bus.

Snowflake Ski Swap

The Snowflake Nordic Ski Swap will take place on Saturday, November 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon.  If you have gear to sell bring it to Snowflake on Friday, November 11 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Snow in West Yellowstone

At this time (October 7, 2011) it is snowing in West Yellowstone. They are expecting 4 to 6 inches today.  As of now it is starting to cover the grass.  Check out this link to see the Kelly Inn's web cam http://www.westyellowstonewebcams.com/WYWCYellowstoneKellyInn.php.

If you are planing to go to West Yellowstone, get your down payment in soon.  The trip is starting to fill up.

Arrowhead Cup

Begining this winter (2010 -2011) we will be scoring the section 7 races similar to the international World Cup races.  Points will be give to skiers based on their place in the combined Varsity and Junior Varsity races.  First place will receive 100 points, second 95, third 91, fourth 88, fifth 86, sixth 85, seventh 84 and so on.  The points for each skier will be totaled to determine the final Arrowhead Cup placing. 

The races included in the Arrowhead cup are the Section 7 races that are open to all racers and are not relays.  The 2010-2011 races are:  

  • Grand Rapids Invite - 12/11/10
  • Duluth Invite - 12/14/10
  • Ely Timberwolves Invite - 12/18/10
  • Two Harbors Invite - 1/4/11
  • Cloquet Invite - 1/11/11
  • Proctor Invite - 1/14/11
  • Marshall Sprints - 1/22/11
  • Duluth East Invite - 1/22/11
  • Cook County Invite - 2/4/11

 Results will be posted throughout the season.
