Riverside and Akron made for a game match up that certainly kept everyone on the edge of their seats until the buzzer at the end of the game.  Vinny Tomolonis had a hot stick, he was not satisfied with just a Hat Trick he had to add one more goal onto that to make his total goals for the game at 4!
Akron started off the game with two goals, then Vinny had his first goal which was unassisted in the first period.  Akron scored again on a short handed goal making the score 3-1.  Ryan Zawacki then scored with an assist from Nick Swartzwelder, ending the first period with a score of 3-2.  Second period, Akron had two goals right off the bat giving them a lead of 5-2. Vinny scored with assists from Jordan Sintic and Ryan Zawacki showing great team work, passing and setting the puck up.   Ryan Zawacki scored early in the third period with assists from Vinny Tomolonis and Peter Mancisio.  Vinny's third goal was then scored unassisted tieing the score at 5-5.  But Vinny's final goal was assisted on a power play by Michael Branem and Dale Montgomery putting us in the lead 6-5.  It was an awesome comeback, but Akron took our lead away late in the third period with two goals.  Riverside kept fighting with great tenacity until the end of the game.   Leaving the final score Akron 7, Riverside 5.   Ben Todd was in the net, he faced 28 shots and saved 21.  Akron's goalie, Zach Gaul faced 41 shots from Riverside and saved 35.
We faced another tough competitor with Rocky River.  It seemed despite many efforts we were destined to be the victims of a shut out.  Each period we battled and Rocky River seemed to get in the net and Riverside could not.  Until the third period where Vinny Tomolonis found the net assisted by Michael Branem and Dale Montgomery ending the shut out.  A tough loss.  Rocky River 9 and Riverside 1.
A hard fought battle ended with North Royalton winning 3-1.  Vinny Tomolonis scored our only goal in the 1st period assisted by Joe Hughes and Peter Mancisio.  Ben Todd faced 33 shots and saved 30.
The first period made it clear that Riverside was ready for a win.  Early in the period, our senior captain, Jordan Sintic scored with an assist from Adam Hayes.  Just 21 seconds later, David Stoltz made another goal assisted by both Joe Hughes and Michael Branem.  Third goal that period was by Vinny Tomolonis, assisted by Ryan Zawacki.  Fremont got a short handed goal unassisted, making the score 3-1.  But Riverside wasn't quite done scoring in this first period, on a power play, Vinny Tomolonis scored his second goal assisted by Michael Branem and Ryan Zawacki, making the score at the end of the first period 4-1.
Second period, Fremont started off with a goal early in the period on a penalty shot.  Riverside then scored from the stick of Ryan Zawacki assisted by Michael Branem and Jordan Sintic.  Jordan Sintic had another goal assisted by Ryan Zawacki on a power play.  Our final goal was scored by Alex Lehmann, our freshman defenseman, assisted by Jordan Sintic.  Every goal scored by our team had at least one assist showing real teamwork.
Third period only Fremont scored leaving the final score Riverside 7 and Fremont 3.  Michael Branem and Ryan Zawacki both had playmakers at this game, good job!
Ben Todd had 12 shots on goal and saved 9.  Fremont's goalie took 33 shots on goal from Riverside's players and saved 26.
First period Mooney scored late in the period givng them the only goal scored in that period by either team.  Both teams aggresively tried to score but only 1 goal got in giving Mooney an early lead.  Second period 2 more goals were scored by Mooney. Early in the third Mooney scored another goal making the score, 4-0.  Despite continuous efforts Riverside just couldn't get a goal past Mooney's skilled goalie, until the third period where hopes were up as it seemed we were headed for a strong comeback.  Zawacki scored with assists from Montgomery and Stoltz.  Followed up by an unassisted goal by Jake Sintic.  Bringing the score to 4-2.  Mooney scored one final blow leaving the score 5-2.  Riverside's 29 shots on goal were strong attempts but Mooney's goalie stopped all but 2.  Ben Todd faced 32 shots and had 27 saves.
