Bears. Polar Bears split points; tie 3-3.

The North Royalton Bears and the Jackson Polar Bears skated to a, 3-3, tie in NCHSHL play on Saturday, January 31st. North Royalton jumped to an early lead when Colin O'Connor slapped home a loose puck just 30 seconds into the opening period; assisting on the goal were Cam Cook and Mike Ambrose. The Bears added their second of the game early in the middle period when Michael Ambrose ripped a shot passed the Jackson net minder assisted by O'Connor and Jacob Krosky. Jackson answered a just a few minutes later, on the power play, to cut the Royalton lead to, 2-1. Cam Cook increased the Royalton lead to, 3-1, midway through the 3rd assisted by Krosky and Cook. Jackson cut the lead to one just a few moments later than then tied the game with only 2.9 seconds remaining to force overtime. The two teams skated through a scoreless OT, thanks in large part to Bears goaltender Joey Fratanotnio (25 saves) who made a few key saves in the extra frame. The Bears are now 20-10-4 overall and 7-4-3 in NCHSHL play with two league games remaining.
The North Royalton Bears skated to a 1-1 tie with the Elyria Panthers on Sunday January 25th in NCHSHL league play. North Royalton dominated play out shooting Elyria 58-14 but could only solve the Panthers net minder on one occasion. Midway through the opening period Colin O'Connor redirected an Anthony Picciano shot for the Bears only score; Preston Vinyard also picked up an assist on the goal. The Bears thought they earned the victory when Cam Cook netted one in OT only to have it disallowed due to a phantom crease violation. The tie brings the Bears NCHSHL record to 7-4-2 and their overall record to 20-10-3.

The North Royalton Bears earned their 20th win of the season topping Elyria, 4-1, in NCHSHL league play on January 21, 2015. The Bears dominated the Elyria controlling play throughout and outshooting the Panthers 47-17. Royalton got on the board first, breaking a scoreless tie just 25 ticks into the middle period, when Christian Fernandez found the back of the net assisted by Jeremy Gripp and Dylan Kovach. The Bears added their second of the game towards the end of the 2nd period when Jeremy Gripp scored assisted by Kovach and Anthony Picciano. Cam Cook gave the Bears a 3-0 lead, early in the 3rd period, on the power play assisted by Timmy Orlosky and Jacob Krosky. The final Bears goal was scored by Tyler Cimperman with Eric Golla picking up the helper. Elyria spoiled what would have been Joey Fratantonio’s team leading 6th shutout netting a goal with just under a minute remaining in the contest.

The win improves the Bears NCHSHL record to 7-4-1 and their overall record to 20-10-2.

The North Royalton Bears participated in the Olentangy Orange, Pioneer Classic from January 16-18, 2015. The Bears won two games, beating Mentor and Troy, and lost two games, falling to Centerville and Troy in the consolation round.

North Royalton opened up on Friday, January 16th against Mentor, defeating the Cardinals, 3-0.The Bears played two on Saturday, January 17th first falling to the Centerville Elks, 3-1, and next defeating the Troy Trojans, 4-3. The Bears were tied with the Olentangy Braves after the preliminary round, with two wins apiece, and because the two teams did not play one another it went to the secondary tie breaker of fewest penalties s in minutes which the Bears lost. As a result of losing the tie breaker the Bears squared off against the Troy Trojans in the tournaments consolation round on Sunday January, 18th; this time falling to the Trojans, 4-2.

The Bears will return home from Columbus with an overall record of 19-10-2.

The North Royalton Bears defeated the Wooster Oilers, 5-1, in NCHSHL play on January 15th at Alice Noble Ice Arena in Wooster, OH. The Bears got on the board early in the 1st when Mike Ambrose knocked in a loose puck; assists were awarded to Jacob Krosky and Paul Jablonski. North Royalton added three 2nd period goals to take a commanding 4-0 lead entering the final period. The Bears next two goals came on the power play; Cam Cook netted the Bears second score assisted by Timmy Orlosky and Krosky and Anthony Picciano added Royalton's third score assisted by Nicolai Kolasinski. Mike Ambrose scored his 2nd of the game assisted by Preston Vinyard and Jablonski. The Bears opened up the final frame as they did the opening period scoring in the first minute when Jablonski finished a beautiful feed from Jacob Krosky; also picking up an assist was Mike Ambrose. Joey Fratantonio continued his strong play between the pipes stopping 25 of the 26 shots faced. The win improves the Bears league record to 6-4-1 and their overall record to 17-8-2.
