Bears stung by Bees, lose to Medina, 4-1.

The North Royalton Bears fell, 4-1, to the Medina Bees in their 2nd round playoff game on February 22, 2015. The loss sends the Bears into the loser’s bracket of the double elimination NCHSHL playoffs. The Bears lone goal came early in the 2nd period, to tie the game at one apiece, on the power play, when Jacob Krosky netted a Timmy Orlosky feed. The Bees answered moments later to take a 2-1 lead and then added two more 3rd period goals for the win.
The Bears opened up play in the North Coast High School Hockey League on February 21, 2015 defeating the Wooster Oilers, 4-3. North Royalton came out strong scoring two goals in the opening period. Jeremy Gripp netted the first assisted by Christian Fernandez and Jacob Krosky scored next assisted by Colin O’Connor and Michael Ambrose. Royalton slowed a bit in the middle period only scoring once, Colin O’Connor found the back of the net assisted by Krosky and Ambrose, while surrendering three goals. The Bears got the game winner, just two minutes into the final period, when Michael Ambrose took a Jacob Krosky pass and snuck it passed the Oilers goalie; also picking up an assist was Colin O’Connor.
The North Royalton Bears defeated the Fremont Ice Wolves, 6-1, on February 24th in NCHSHL playoff action. The Bears came out flying scoring the first four goals of the game, two in the opening period and two in the middle period before Fremont added one of their own. Royalton responded to the Ice Wolves late 2nd period score netting two more of their own in the final period. Jacob Krosky and Michael Ambrose each scored twice with Krosky picking up a pair of assists as well. Timmy Orlosky and Paul Jablonski each notched solo scores for the Bears who scored six for the first time since December 27, 2014. Joey Fratantonio looked solid between the pipes for the Bears stopping 29 of the 30 shots he faced.
The North Royalton Bears participated in the Rock-n-Roll Cup Tournament over the President’s Day weekend falling to the U18 Southgate Senators , 4-1, in the tournaments semifinal game. The Bears opened up tournament play on February 14th falling to the U18 Butler Bulldogs, 5-1. Royalton’s lone goal was scored by Michael Ambrose assisted by Jacob Krosky and Colin O’Connor. North Royalton returned to the ice the morning of February 15th defeating the U18 North London Nationals, 2-1, behind Joey Fratantonio’s 47 save performance. The Bears got goals from Brian Fielding and Nicolai Kolasinski in the win. The Bears faced a familiar foe in their evening game, squaring off against the Riverside Beavers. The two teams skated to a 1-1 tie with the Bears lone goal being scored by Brian Fielding with Cam Cook picking up an assist. The Bears concluded tournament play falling to Southgate, 4-1, in the semifinals with Jacob Krosky netting the Bears lone goal. Next up for the Bears, the Wooster Oilers, the two will play in the opening round of the North Coast HS Hockey League playoffs which will kick off on February 21, 2015 at the Mentor Civic Ice Arena.

The North Royalton Bears split their last two regular season games; defeating Great Lakes, 4-0, on February 6th and falling, 4-1, to Wooster February 8th.

The Bears dominated Great Lakes outshooting them 69-13 en route to the 4-0 win. Royalton got on the board just five minutes into the game when Paul Jablonski went end to end and buried a short-handed goal. The Bears made when up by two with about 4 minutes left in the opening frame when Nicolai Kolasinki tapped in a Jablonski rebound; also picking up an assist on the goal was Nick Magro. Kolasinski added his 2nd of the game, the only goal scored in the middle period finishing a beautiful feed from Mike Ambrose. The Bears scored their fourth and final goal midway through the final frame when Jeremy Gripp took a pass from Brian Fielding and ripped a shot passed the Freeze net minder. Joey Fratantonio picked up his 6th shutout and 12th win on the season.

The Bears fell. 4-1, to the Wooster Oilers in their final NCHSHL game of the season. North Royalton got on the board first, in the opening period, when Nick Magro buried a feed from Paul Jablonski; also picking up an assist was Nicolai Kolasinski. Wooster scored, shorthanded, to tie the game at one apiece entering the middle period. The 2nd and 3rd belonged to the Oilers who scored three more times. The loss drops the Bears to 8-5-3 in league play and 21-11-4 overall.
