The North Royalton Bears opened their 2013/14 North Coast HS Hockey League regular season with an impressive 8-0 victory over the Brunswick/Elyria (B/E) Express on November 24th at Iceland USA in Strongsville. The Bears dominated all three periods out-shooting the Express 46-7 and despite out-shooting the Express 14-3 in the opening period, the Bears couldn't find the back of the net leaving the two teams scoreless after one period of play. North Royalton kept shooting and was finally able to solve the B/E net minder in the middle frame scoring 5 times- each goal by a different goal scorer. Cameron Megazzini got the scoring started knocking in a rebound from a Timmy Orlosky blast, also picking up an assist on the goal was Angelo Nero. Nero kept the scoring going taking a breakout pass from Orlosky and going the distance slipping one through the goalies pads for the Bears 2nd tally. The Bears next three goals were scored by Branden Walsh, Michael Dzoba and Aaron Schmitt – all three goals were netted on the power play. The Bears opened the final frame like they closed the middle one, on the power play and scoring- Walsh added his 2nd goal of the evening burying a beautiful pass from Schmitt, also picking up an assist on the goal was senior defenseman- Steven Vinyard. Timmy Orlosky picked up his 3rd point of the night and 1st goal of the game scoring with just under 5 minutes left in the game for the Bears 7th goal and Aaron Schmitt tallied his 2nd goal of the game, to go with 3 assists, with less than a minute left in the game for the Bears 8th and final score. Tyler Roesch backstopped the Bears stopping all 7 shots he faced earning his 1st shutout of the season.
