Holliston Just 1 Game at a time

By Jon Japha / News Sports Writer Metrowest Daily News With four weeks to go, there are four teams in the Tri-Valley League with a chance to claim the crown. Dover-Sherborn is 4-1, as is Medfield. But everyone's gunning for defending champ Westwood (5-0), and the team with the best chance of grabbing a victory is Holliston. The Panthers are also undefeated in the TVL and coming off an impressive 26-8 victory over Medfield. Predictably, though, Holliston won't acknowledge thinking about its season-ending game with Westwood. "To be honest with you, and I'm not just throwing a cliche out there, we're not even looking at that game," said coach Todd Kiley. "We haven't looked at it once. We've gotten a game film of theirs against another team, and even then it would be tempting to start breaking stuff down, but we don't." The reason is, if Kiley and his troops start looking ahead to the meeting with Westwood, there's a good chance for some slipups, making the Westwood game meaningless. Up next is a game with Bellingham, which despite a 1-4 TVL record, played Westwood tight two weeks ago. Following the Hawks is a game against a strong Dover-Sherborn team. "This league is so competitive," said Kiley. "We have a tough road ahead of us." Still, the players have to sneak peaks at the standings, right? "If they are looking ahead, it's difficult to sense that," said Kiley. "They're a focused bunch of kids. But kids will be kids, and they are looking at the standings, but I think that they're mature enough to know that we have four games left on the schedule, and they're all going to be tough."
