News and Announcements

MLL's Everybody Plays program is a financial assistance program funded by donations from MBLL families for MBLL families.  Click on the following link to learn more....

MBLL also extends free Saturday clinics to mid-February.

MBLL and Anaheim’s renowned Mark Cresse School of Baseball will host a Feb 16 preseason mini-camp for participants in the MBLL spring league, California League and above. The camp is free, courtesy of MBLL, but space is limited to 300 players (the league has nearly 1,800) so sign up now.

Cresse (www.markcresse.com) prides itself on personal attention, so sessions will be age-specific and run at the following times:

Ages 7 & 8- 12:00 to 1:20

Ages 9 & 10- 1:30 to 2:50

Ages 11 & 12- 3:00 to 4:20

MBLL and Cresse School will likewise conduct Managers and Coaches Training the same morning, ensuring greater consistency leaguewide. MBLL will reserve spots for all California League-and-above Managers, and assign remaining spots to Coaches as space permits.

Parents interested in registering their Cal-and-above sons for the Cresse Mini-Camp should immediately email thomastyrer@hotmail.com with their son's name and age division. Please mark the email "Cresse Camp." You will be notified by email with your son’s confirmation and further details on the mini-camp program.

Second, based on tremendous demand, MBLL is expanding this Saturday's free clinics at Begg South field in baseball fitness and coordination, pitching, catcher's skills and hitting to Jan 26, Feb 2, Feb. 9 and possibly beyond. The simultaneous, hour-long clinics run from 10-2, and feature some of the area's top personal trainers, all of whom have professional baseball experience.

Any parents interested in signing up their son(s) of Cal-age or higher for any or all of the 1) fitness and coordination, 2) pitching, 3) hitting, and 4) catcher's skills on Jan 26, Feb 2 or Feb. 9 should again email thomastyrer@hotmail.com, noting your son's name, league (Cal, Coast, etc) and the clinics he would hope to attend. Registration is first-come, first-served, and initial clinics for Jan 19 “sold out” within two days. Please title emails "Baseball Clinics" and the date requested to expedite the process.

**Send all questions and sign-up requests to thomastyrer@hotmail.com with subject "Baseball Clinics - date xx/xx/08" indicating the date you are requesting. If you do not get a confirmation email from Tom within a day, then send your request again.**

2008 MBLL Baseball Tryouts

Posted by Dennis Kane at Jan 6, 2008 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
We will have baseball tryouts, or more precisely player evaluation sessions, on two successive Saturdays. During these tryouts experienced baseball managers and coaches will evaluate all such candidates seeking to "move up" a league in competition. If you requested a tryout as part of registering your child, you will be receiving an email from the league information officer notifying you of the need to tryout.

If your son is new to the league and will be in a league where there is draft (i.e., Coast, International, Majors), please attend one of the two tryouts so he can be evaluated for the draft. Our goal is to have every boy rated that will be playing in a league that has a draft. If your son has played in MBLL then we already have that information. Here is the tryout information. Each player requesting to "move up" must attend a tryout to determine his eligibility to do so. A player may attend either of these sessions. It is not necessary to attend both sessions.

2008 MBLL Baseball Tryouts

When: Saturday, January 12 & 19

Where: Begg Field North

Times:

Tryouts for T-ball age players wanting to play Cal (first year Coach pitch) - 8:00 am to 9:00 am.

First time MBLL Cal players who need to be evaluated for team formation should arrive at 8:00 am.

Tryouts for Cal age players wanting to play Coast (first year kid pitch) - 9:00 am to 10:30 am

First time MBLL Coast players who need to be evaluated for the draft should arrive at 10:00 am

Tryouts for MBLL International and Majors players (move-ups or 1st time MBLL players) - 10:30 am - 11:30 am.

Players should bring their glove, and if they have them, their bat and helmet.

If you are unsure if your son should attend the tryouts, please contact me.

If your son was born between May 1, 2001 and July 31, 2001, has played two years of MBLL T-Ball and has requested to move up to the Cal League, there is no need for him to attend tryouts. Such players will automatically be placed on an Cal League team.

If you have any questions regarding MBLL tryouts for baseball, please do not hesitate to contact me.
