2006 WINTER LEAGUE: HAWKS EDGE CAPO VALLEY 2-1

WINDROW PARK (Irvine, CA) - In a game dominated by pitching, the Hawks defeated the highly ranked Capo Valley Cougars 2-1.  Hawks pitchers Josh Leite, Sean Pellerin and Nate Chaim allowed only 3 Cougar baserunners past first base, and only 1 past second base.  The Hawks scored their runs on 2 fielder choices, and the Cougars scored their lone run on a sacrafice fly.

WINDROW PARK (Irvine, CA) - The Hawks exploded for 5 first inning runs on 5 hits and the Hawks pitching staff shut down the Trabuco Hills Mustangs giving up only two singles enroute to an 8-1 victory. The key Hawks' hit was a first inning three-run double by Senior Josh Leite, who also pitched two shutout innings getting all six outs on strikeouts. Leite combined with Sean Pellerin, Jeff Rauh and Nate Chaim to strike out a total of 12 Mustangs. The sole Mustang run was unearned.

2006 WINTER LEAGUE: HAWKS FALL TO EL TORO 7-3

WINDROW PARK (Irvine, CA) - In a close back and forth game with the Hawks leading 2-1 after 5 innings, the Hawks' allowed 2 unearned runs to score in the sixth inning, and four additional runs in the 7th, all after two were out in both innings. The Hawks could not recover and fell to the El Toro Chargers by a score of 7-3. The Hawks outhit their opponents accumulating eight hits with the Chargers connecting for just four. The Hawks allowed only 1 walk in the first 6 innings, but gave up 4 in the 7th. The Hawks had a lone base-on-balls.

2006 WINTER LEAGUE: HAWKS DEFEAT SADDLEBACK 13-5

WINDROW PARK (Irvine) - The Hawks picked up their first win of 2006 in their second try by downing Saddleback H.S. 13-5.  The Hawks fell behind early giving up 3 runs in the top of the first but came back by scoring in every inning except the second in a time shortened 5 inning game.  The Hawks mounted a 14 hit attack with 8 different batters each getting at least one hit.

2006 WINTER LEAGUE: HAWKS FALL TO MATER DEI 9-4

WINDROW PARK (Irvine) - The Hawks opened their 2006 Winter campaign Monday night with a demonstration of the depth of their squad with 17 players seeing action.  The Hawks were led by its four returning Seniors, Nate Chaim, Tim Cram, Josh Leite and Sean Pellerin. The Hawks used a different pitcher in each of seven innings including Chaim, Leite and Pellerin.  The offense was highlighed with a 3-for-3 performance by Junior shortstop Tony Kerr who made it a perfect night reaching base a fourth time on a hit-by-pitch.  The Mater Dei pitching staff allowed 5 Hawks base hits, 8 walks and the hit-by-pitch.
