Frosh icemen keep pulling tricks out of the hat

There was a special feeling in the air as the Littleton High School varsity hockey team took to the ice in their first home game of this young season at the Groton School rink Saturday night. And special it was as the large hometown crowd from LHS and Bromfield High School in Harvard cheered on the Tigers in their second convincing victory of the week with a 6-1 win over Central Mass. division 3 opponent Murdock. Freshman Jason Schneider spearheaded the Tigers' offensive attack and registered his second hat trick of the young season. Schneider scored once in each period and topped it off with two assists. Andrew Aponas, Pat Feehan and Mike Kanniard scored the other trio of goals. Feehan, playing in his first game of the season, passed out three assists. Joe Graham, Matt Coole, Chris Austermann and A.J. Aponas added one setup each. Goaltender Terrance Sullivan continued his steady performance in net as he stopped 22 of 23 shots in the contest. The Tigers are off to an impressive 2-1 start, with Schneider emerging as the catalyst in the teams offensive attack, personally tallying seven goals and six assists so far this season. The offensive lines and defensive units are showing strong signs of a rapidly maturing team and are providing an entertaining and exciting venue for their fans. By Rich Takvorian
