JUST WIN CAMP 2005 AN AWESOME SUCCESS

Posted by Dirk Knudsen at Jul 12, 2005 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
This year I was asked to assist in the Just win football camp held on the Island of Maui, Hawaii. It was one of the most incredible camps that I have ever been part of. The camp was held on the beautiful campus of Kamehameha Schools-Maui. The camp is organized by J.W Kenton and directed by Colorado Asst. Head Coach/Linebackers Coach Brian Cabral. Due to J.W Kenton's vision and commitment to making this camp happen, many of Hawaii's football players now have more oppurtunities to making it to college. J.W flew in some of the top coaches in the country. The coaches were Colorado Asst. Head Coach/Linebackers Coach Brian Cabral, Oklahoma Defensive Ends Coach-Chris Wilson, Weber State Defensive Line Coach-Chad Kauhaahaa, UCLA Wide Receivers Coach-Jon Embree, UCLA Running Backs Coach-Eric Bienemy, University of Hawaii Quarterbacks Coach-Dan Morrison, Boise State Linebackers Coach-Viliami Tuivai, Boise State Defensive Backs Coach-Robert Tucker, College of the Canyons Defensive Backs Coach-Lolesio Takapu, University of Hawaii-Strength and Conditioning Coach-Tommy Heffernan, Golden West Community College Head Coach-Alex Gerke, and myself Brian Derby, Hosei University(Japan) Offensive Line/Offense Coach and Head Coach and Camp Coordinator of the Brian Derby Offensive line Football Camps. Another individual that flew in to help make the camp a success was Mike Smith that took care of all equipment needs for the athletes. Mike is a representative of Nike and with the contribution of Mike and Nike, the camp was more successful than ever. This year the Just Win Football Camp added an academic portion. At nights the athletes was given a S.A.T Prep class that was coordinated by Doris Sullivan of Pacific Islands Athletic Alliance.
http://www.pacificathleticalliance.com/index.htm It was AWESOME! Also Thank You T.J Cuaresma for your hard work and Administrative help at the camp. The Just Win Football Camp was a success because every coach and worker involved worked from their Hearts and Souls. It was all about getting the athletes better and making them better people so that they can be successful in life. The hospilitality by Kamehameha Schools-Maui campus was above and beyond. Athletic Director Kurt Ginoza and his staff did an outstanding job in helping to make this camp a success. The athletes ate well, had great accommodations and was given every oppurtunity to have a successful camp. Thank you Kamehameha Schools for the use of your facilities and help in making this the best of the best camps anywhere. This years camp drew about 225 players from around the State of Hawaii as well as California. Just Win Football Camps encourages participation from any state in the mainland, Samoa, or area that wants to improve the play of their athletes and improve their chances of going to college by being seen by some of the top coaches in the country. Due to the tremendous reponse, Just Win Football Camps are looking to add a camp on Oahu as well in 2006 if the adequate facilities and accommodations can be found. Also a BIG Mahalo to all the sponsors that made this camp a success. The sponsors were: Renaissance Wailea Beach Resort, Schutt, Kamehameha Schools Maui Campus, Maui Soda and Ice, Wild Wheels Wentals, Kula Produce, Maui Chemical & Paper Products, Computer Lab If you want any information regarding the "Just Win Football Camp" and future camps, go to www.justwin.org(Click on the Link Above). image
