Surrey County Cup u15 ’Field were always behind and chasing the game in a very competitive and close cup-tie against Motspur Park on Sunday. It was Park who opened the scoring as they made ‘Field pay for failing to clear their lines. The equaliser came from Sam Lewiston, he latched on to a fine through ball from Max Galbraith and finished with a deft touch. The next clear chance fell to ‘Field and they should have taken the lead, how they failed to convert Jamie Folley’s pinpoint corner from a couple of yards is still a mystery. As often happens Park soon went up the other end and made them pay as with the help of a clear handball they re-took the lead. After half time ‘Field again drew level Folley’s long range free kick finding the far corner of the net through a sea of players. ‘Field though were soon again punished for losing possession when the resulting long range shot looped into the net from range to again giving Park the lead. All seemed to be lost soon after when Scott Pinnells made a good stop only for the resulting rebound to be forced home for Park’s fourth. ‘Field though showed real character as they again fought back, sub Nick Worsley heading home to leave a tense last ¼ hour for Park, but try as they would ‘Field could not find another equaliser that their play probably deserved. ’Field’s best player on the day was Dave Shutt who put in an outstanding performance at centre back throughout the match. Team: Pinnells, Byrne, Melinn, Shutt, Pestle, Galbraith, Mark Robson, Mike Robson, Folley, Locke, Lewiston Subs: Worsley, Kealy, Buckland, Hyde.

A first half hatrick from Sam Lewiston and a goal each for Nick Worsley and Joe Byrne put ‘Field in the hat for the next round of the League cup on Sunday. The pick of the goals came after great work down the right, Byrne feeding Worsley who burst away from his man and centered for Lewiston to confidently dispatch with ease. After being 4-0 up at half time ‘Field were not quite as dominant in the second half but Byrne’s sweetly struck free kick put the gloss on a confident allround team performance. Team: Stone, Galbraith, Byrne, Melinn, Pestle, Worsley, Kealy, Robson, Folley, Locke, Lewiston Subs: Buckland, King, Hyde.

Sam Lewiston put in a great performance and reaped the reward for all the extra work that has been done on his finishing in training, scoring four first half goals and finishing the game with six to his name. ‘Field had again started the game in good form passing the ball crisply and confidently. Jamie Locke, who had an excellent first half, opened the scoring for ‘Field when after 15 min’s his low and hard shot found the far corner of the Sutton net. Lewiston got the next four as he displayed some composed finishing. Among his goals was a powerful header and a great team goal, Joe Byrne playing a fine ball down the line, Locke running into the channel and holding the ball up before feeding Jamie Folley, his pinpoint cross was expertly dispatched. A quality first touch from Mike Robson killing a difficult ball dead followed by a defence splitting pass created another. The second half struggled to live up to the high standard of the first but Lewiston still managed to add two further goals and Nick Worsley showed how much he has improved by also getting on the score sheet near the end. Team: Stone, Byrne, Melinn, Buckland, Galbraith, Kealy, Robson, Robson, Folley, Locke, Lewiston Subs: Worsley, King, Hyde.

‘Field started in fine form from passing the ball confidently and looking sharp all round the pitch and it was no surprise when Joe Byrne opened the scoring his quick thinking and cheeky back heel beating the home keeper. The excellent Jamie Folley then made it two, his precise lob giving the keeper no chance. At this stage ‘Field were cruising but started to lose concentration and shape, the result was a pacey Teddington striker getting goal side of his man and being brought down for a pen which was expertly dispatched to briefly bring Teddington back into the game. ‘Field then lost influential centre back Ross Melinn to injury and were forced to re-shuffle, the fine form of Steve Buckland making this less of a problem. Nick Worsley restored Field’s two goal advantage forcing home at the far post just prior to half time. This week ‘Field did not ease off and went on to score three more goals in the second half, Jamie Folley got his second with a well struck free kick, Danny Hyde was on hand to add number five before Sam Lewiston made it six. Liam Stone although not troubled too much proved his class with good handling throughout and one fine second half save. Team: Stone, Byrne, Melinn, Buckland, Galbraith, Kealy, Robson, Robson, Folley, Locke, Lewiston Subs: Worsley, King, Hyde.
