’Field after two matches in which they have started slowly looked very fired up for this game and put in a tremendous first half performance. The first two goals both came from great flowing moves down the right. Joe Byrne, Jamie Locke and Jamie Folley combining well and on both occasions for Folley, who had a great first half, to expertly picked out Sam Lewiston, the later showing no signs of jet lag having flown in only hours earlier from America to cooly dispatched both chances. Scott Pinnells in the home goal looked very assured and made a couple of good stops while Byrne having taken on the captaincy was having a fine game at the back. The third and final goal also came prior to half time Mike Robson’s shot going in off Lewiston who generously conceeded it was Robson’s goal. There were several changes at half time and ‘Field with Max Galbraith and Dave Shutt putting in some good solid tackles looked comfortable but never quite reached the same footballing highs as in the excellent first half performance. Team: Pinnells, Byrne, Melinn, Buckland, Jarman, Galbraith, Shutt, Mike Robson, Folley, Lewiston, Locke. Subs: Worsley, Pestle, Kealy.

Westfield 2 Knaphill 1

’Field for the second match in a row started very sluggishly against very competitive Knaphill side who looked very fired up for the game and proved much tougher opposition than earlier in the season. It was Knaphill who deservedly took the lead, their striker’s persistence got him to a ball he should not have reached and he finished it well. There were some strong words at half time and ‘Field came out after the break looking far more competitive, Dave Shutt and Jamie Locke in particular competing well and battling for every ball. Nick Worsley after a disappointing first half now started to use his pace and it was he who was brought down on the edge of the box for the penalty that brought ‘Field an equaliser their improved play deserved. Chrissie Pestle calmly fired his side level. ‘Field continued to press really hard but things did not seem to be going their way after several close calls then a seemingly good goal being ruled out only 5 mins from time. Hopefully a good lesson in keeping faith and playing right to the end was learnt when as a last throw of the dice centre back Steve Buckland was thrown up front for the last three mins. His presence caused havoc in the Knaphill back line and the late winner came when he headed on Joe Byrne’s probing ball and Worsley was on hand to gleefully head home the decider. Team: Stone, Byrne, Shutt, Buckland, Pestle, Mark Robson, Mike Robson, Folley, Kealy, Locke, Worsley. Subs: Jarman, Melinn.

’Field paid the price for a sloppy first half performance when try as they might towards the end they could not find the winner their second half performance deserved. ‘Field started slowly and rather than play their usual passing game looked to play long too often. It was Kingstonian’s number 11 who opened the scoring with a great long range strike but he was lucky to be able too do so after his wild two footed lunge on Jamie Folley min’s earlier, which should have seen him dismissed, only resulted in a yellow card. Nick Worsley scored the equaliser after good work from Sam Lewiston down the right. ‘Field played much better in the second half and it was against the run of play that a free kick found its way through a sea of players and into the corner of the net. From the on it was one way traffic Mike Robson was on hand to bring ‘Field level with 10 mins to go but they could not find the winner, Lewiston coming closest hitting the crossbar near the end. Keeper Liam Stone did really well late on as he saved at the feet of the K’s striker on the break Team: Stone, Byrne, Melinn, Buckland, Pestle, Jarman, Mark Robson, Mike Robson, Folley, Worsley, Lewiston Subs: Galbraith, Locke, Shutt.

Walton & Hersham won 5-4 on Pens ’Field went out of the League cup 5-4 on penalties Sunday after an excellent match that they looked to have won in the last min of extra time only to see Mike Robson’s shot rebound off the bar to safety. ‘Field with several players missing took a while to settle and it was Walton who took the lead early on when a speculative shot looped over Liam Stone for the opener. The rest of the match was a typical cup tie, ‘Field looked solid defensively and had the upper hand in most other area’s but they could not quite finding the eqaliser they searched for. That was until with 7 mins to go they threw Steve Buckland forward from centre back, his first run saw him burst down the right and cut a perfect ball back for Sam Lewiston who gleefully fired home the equaliser that his hard working had performance deserved. Both sides then had a couple of half chances before in the last min of extra time Jamie Folley surged down the left and crossed for Mike Robson, he got across his man and lifted the ball over the keeper only to see it come back off the cross bar. The sides then had to face penalties both scoring 4 out of 5 before the Walton keeper made a good save from Folley’s kick to put them in the next round. Team: Stone, Byrne, Melinn, Buckland, Pestle, Jarman, Mark Robson, Mike Robson, Folley, Kealy, Lewiston Subs: Galbraith, Hyde, Pinnells.

Feltham 1 Westfield 7

On a heavy pitch and against a determined and competitive Feltham side ’Field played comfortably some of their best football of the season so far on Sunday. The game was very evenly balanced early on before Nick Worsley who had a tremendous first half showed great composure to lift the ball over the keeper’s head for the opener. Towards the end of the half Feltham came back strongly Liam Stone in the ‘Field goal making a fine save to protect their lead. Just prior to half time Sam Lewiston showed how much his finishing has improved as he threaded the ball under the advancing home keeper from a difficult angle to make the score 2-0 at a vital time. The third early in the second half was Worsley again, he powerfully held his man off in the box before calmly finishing. The next three goals all came from the superb Mike Robson who was in brilliant form throughout and thoroughly deserved his rewards, the best of his goals a fine volley that flashed into the bottom corner. Number 6 came from centre back Ross Melinn who steered home Jamie Folley’s pinpoint corner. Folley himself then unlucky when he hit the bar with a great strike from range. Feltham’s consolation goal came from the penalty spot late on after Stone had brought their forward down when he was through on goal In a great all-round team display Steve Buckland’s performance at centre back stood out, he won just about everything that came near him and also made an incredible acrobatic clearance of a goal bound lob to save a certain goal. Team: Stone, Galbraith, Melinn, Buckland, Pestle, Worsley, Mark Robson, Mike Robson, Folley, Locke, Lewiston Subs: Kealy, Byrne, Hyde.
