Carshalton on the Hill 0 Westfield 8

Hatricks from Flavio Cappiello and Sam Lewiston plus a goal apiece for Mike Robson and Jamie Folley comfortably saw ‘Field through to the next round of the cup on Sunday. On a very tight sloping pitch the first half was quite a close affair, Liam Stone in the ‘Field goal looked assured, James Barrett and Joe Taylor at the back looked solid and Max Galbraith played well in midfield but only Cappiello’s goal separated the sides. The second half saw the visitors really up the pace with everone performing well, seven more goals were scored as Carshalton’s resolve slowly ebbed away. Squad: Liam Stone, Jamie Folley, Joe Taylor, Ross Melinn, James Barrett, Mike Robson, Duke Munroe, Max Galbraith, Dean Hayward-Brown, Flavio Cappiello, Sam Lewiston. Subs: James Kealy, Tom Bentley, Dave Shutt.

Three great left foot strikes were enough to give ‘Field three points on Sunday. ‘Field’s first half performance was excellent and they were unlucky not to make their dominance pay as both Dean Hayward-Brown and Flavio Cappiello hit the crossbar with headers following flowing team moves and quality crosses. The second half again saw ‘Field again in control, that was until a Carshalton forward broke free and expertly chipped Liam Stone in the home goal, that seemed to spark some self doubt and Carshalton had their best spell of the game. The next goal was vital and fortunately it went ‘Field’s way, the ball dropping to Duke Munroe on the edge of the box, he looked up and struck a great strike into the far corner of the net to bring ‘Field level. Now with the upper hand ‘Field pushed forward and almost immediately Cappiello put them in front, his fizzing drive from 20 yards giving the keeper no chance. Just as ‘Field were thinking the job was done a Carshalton forward outpaced the home defence and finished to again bring parity. The final say though went to Cappiello who with 10 min’s to go turned his man in the box and showed great composure to finish and give ‘Field all three points. Squad: Liam Stone, Jamie Folley, Joe Taylor, Ross Melinn, James Barrett, Flavio Cappiello, Dave Shutt, Mark Robson, Dean Hayward-Brown, Sam Lewiston, Jamie Locke. Subs: Duke Munroe, James Kealy, Tom Bentley.

Hampton Youth 0 Westfield 1

West Surrey Youth League u16 Prem Div Joe Taylor’s fine far post header in the 78th min from Duke Munroe’s corner gave ‘Field three points in their first game of the new season. Hampton played the game 1 short, they initially lined up with 11 but when asked for their registration cards it was soon apparent that one of the players was not registered. ‘Field though dominating the match from the start, playing downhill in the first half but never really made the man advantage pay as Hampton competed well in all areas of the pitch and held out till half time. In the second half again Hampton soaked up the pressure without ever really looking like conceding and started looking dangerous with long balls down the hill. Max Galbraith who entered the fray just prior to half time had a really fine game at the back making vital tackles and using the ball well. ‘Field’s with keeper Liam Stone away for the weekend were forced to put midfielder Flavio Cappiello in for his first ever game in goal, you would not have know it though, his display was competent and he made a vital flying save mid way through the second half. As the game came towards the end ‘Field dug deep and carved out a couple of good chances one came from Dean Hayward-Brown feeding Jamie Folley down the right, his pinpoint cross was met by Sam Lewiston only for his header to flash agonisingly wide. Then came two corners first one on the left from Folley, which the keeper tipped over the bar then, one on the right from Munroe and Taylor came storming in to powerfully head home the late winner. Squad: Flavio Cappiello, Jamie Folley, Joe Taylor, Ross Melinn, Steve Buckland, James Kealy, Dave Shutt, Mark Robson, Dean Hayward-Brown, Sam Lewiston, Mike Robson. Subs: Duke Munroe, Max Galbraith, Tom Bentley.
