ANOTHER MONTH CLOSER TO 2007 KICK-OFF

Dear Soccer Family,

The month of January is almost over and we are one month closer to the kick-off of our season. The past six weeks have been very busy....we have met with 26 players individually, had 4 seperate sessions with each class for weight room instruction and today started our early morning weight training. A solid start to 2007.

Let's talk about the FIRST STEP TOWARDS SUCCESS....our first week of lifting at 5:40am has been great. We had over 94% participation. What an awesome start to our 2007 preparation. I loved the attitude and participation of everyone who attended. When you get over 94% participation for OPTIONAL training at 5:40 in the morning, you have taken the FIRST STEP TOWARDS SUCCESS. The real key will be how many additional steps we take....will we be able to maintain these type of numbers or could we even increase it? We have 47 additional lifting sessions on your plan...CAN WE TAKE 47 MORE STEPS? I hope so!!!

Secondly, I want to share a quote from comedian Bill Cosby, " I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone."   I share this because we have jointly put together improvement plans for you.  The only folks you should be trying to please are yourself and the coaching staff.   And the good news is we do know the key to success.....maintaining this type of focus, being committed to your improvement plan and attending as many sessions as possible.

Lastly, you must WORK your plan...every day having FUN.  You should look forward to doing your ball routine workout.  If you improve a little bit every day, you give yourself the best chance for success.

As I have told you a hundred times....soccer is a simple game, but requires great execution.  We can become the best if each of us do our part.

See ya (HOPEFULLY) every Tuesday and Thursday morning.

For Soccer,
Coach Campbell

TO INFINITY AND BEYOND......

Dear Vikings Soccer Family:

The new year is upon us and the words of one of my hero's, BUZZ LIGHTYEAR,...
TO INFINITY AND BEYOND.......truly indicates the potential we have for this coming season.

I have had family/player meetings with 26 of our returning athletes and have only one to finish in the next week.  Each meeting has been productive and every player has shown a willingness to improve.  We have a chance to do something really special this coming fall, but each player must work harder this off-season then they ever have in the past.

I hand delivered your personal improvement sheet that we spoke about in our meeting to your home this weekend.  It outlines a plan to help you become much better and if you follow the plan....YOU WILL BECOME BETTER.  It also includes the goals we talked about that you are stretching to attain for the fall.  These goals should be the focus that keeps you working hard this off-season.

We start our off-season weight lifting program on Tuesday morning, 1/30.  We will have an organizational meeting for the players on Monday evening, 1/29 at 7:00pm to 8:15pm.  This meeting is for all athletes who are planning on participating in our off-season weight lifting.  PLEASE  ATTEND.

I encourage you to look at our site every week, as it is updated all the time.  Great information for everyone.

For Soccer,
Coach Ric
