Dear Soccer Players and family:

We are about half way through our player meetings and I am so excited with the commitments we are making for improvement.  What an accomplished group of young men we will see in August.

For those of you who have not scheduled your meeting......the time is now because once this week passes, we are through until the fall.

If you are not working out with your club team or playing another sport, it would be of great benefit for you to attend the "OPTIONAL" training sessions that we have at the high school each Monday and Thursday.  I challenge you to do something to make yourself better every day.

Remember that this quarter are the only grades that matter for your eligibility for the fall season.  All A's, B's & C's guarantee the opportunity to play.  Make it happen by applying yourself in the classroom......NOT DOING YOUR BEST IS FAILURE.

Have a great spring.

For Soccer,

Coach Ric

Dear Vikings Soccer Family,

We have just finished our first quarter fundraising and it was quite successful.  We worked five events at UD and was able to raise close to $1,500.  I want to thank all the families that worked these dates, as it is not always the easiest of gigs.....so THANK YOU......thank you and Thank YOU!!!!

We had great participation with over 75% of our families able to help.  I do want to CONGRATULATE our current junior class which had 100% participation....way to be our upcoming senior leaders. I also want to thank those families that worked multiple events.  We could not have gotten it done without your commitment to the effort.  And lastly, thank you to those who worked the high school concession on Valentines Day.  Though, we do not get "paid"......we actually do as the boosters are contributing $450 to our uniform purchases for the fall.....so THANK YOU.

I know that we have numerous families that have had major illness issues in the past couple months and have not been able to volunteer.  Please do NOT worry about it, JUST GET WELL and we look forward to your assistance in the future.  As I have said over and over, help when you can because you never know when you might not be able to in the future, but most importantly take care of what you need to take care of.

I am so grateful and appreciative of our group....you make me proud of our growth and accomplishments.

Lastly, be watching your mailbox later this week for a letter from the coaching staff.  We want to get moving on our 1-on-1 family meetings and this letter will outline the plan.

For Soccer,
Coach Ric

Dear Soccer Players (and family):

The first month of off-season training is complete and I ask each of you, "What did you accomplish in February?"   I know that many of you have been playing and training with your club team,  I know that some of you are trying out for spring sports and others have come to training.....all which is good.

For those of you who have done NOTHING.......what a shame.  The strength of our squad this fall is dependent on each of us improving considerably this off-season.  That cannot be done if you are doing nothing to improve.  You should be at the least working the ball routine (in our handouts section) three times a week, doing ball pushups & situps three times a week and some running each week.  YOU HAVE TO WANT TO GET BETTER AND THEN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT !!!

I want to thank all of those who have given of their time to work our fundraisers.  Our work at UD and the school concessions has been wonderful.  We still have two UD dates that need support.  Please look at the committees page and volunteer if you have the time.  The success of our program is greatly enhanced with the wonderful fundraising efforts of our group.

Please check the calendar for our training dates.  We want to see you there!!

FOR SOCCER,

Coach Ric

IMPORTANT MEETING ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 31

Posted by Jeffrey Thompson at Jan 22, 2009 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Good day soccer family,

I want to inform everyone that the coaching staff met and made some changes to our normal off-season routine for 2009.  We usually have our 1-on-1 meetings by the end of January and then get going with our strength and speed training.  This season we are going to change things up a bit.

First - January 31 at 3:00pm...important meeting for all prospective players and parents.

Second - February 2 through May...strength and speed training. Please view the calendar for the days and times.

Third - throughout March and April...we will meet with all the families who have plans to participate in the program.

Our hope is to have improved and more meaningful 1-on-1's with each player.  We will be passing out IMPORTANT papers at our meeting on the 31st for the players to bring to their 1-on-1.  We are looking for greater involvement and input from each player.  WE WANT TO GET BETTER and know that your comments can improve our program.

Please sign up for any fundraising openings where you can assist us.  We still have several UD games and school concession times available for you.

Lastly, I want to encourage each student-athlete to be just that.....a great student and then an athlete.  You need to give your best this last semester and really build your grades.  Give your best effort!

For Soccer,

Coach Ric

WE ARE OFF AND RUNNING......

Posted by Jeffrey Thompson at Jan 6, 2009 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Hey Gang:

2009 is upon us and we are already into the fundraising season.  It is our goal that every family volunteer when they are able to volunteer....no less, no more.  If your family cannot volunteer right now, that is fine, we will see you at the Air show.  Do NOT get stressed about helping......simply put, just do it, when you can do it.

Having said that.....we completed our first UD concessions last night, thanks to the coaching staff and the "top salesman" Brad Smith for helping us raise $200 last night.  We had fun and helped the program.

The 2009 calendar is completed for this year.  You can see all the off-season, pre-season, tryouts, practices and games RIGHT NOW.  We may have a few time issues that might change, but for the most part it is finished.  We take most of JUNE and the first week of JULY off.  After that we are very busy with conditioning, fundraising and contact days.  I CANNOT WAIT!!!!

We have our FIRST BOOSTER MEETING next Tuesday, January 13th at the high school commons.  We would love to have a representative from each family attend since we are having elections.

Secondly, we will be scheduling one-on-one meetings with each player to discuss the upcoming season and what we can expect in ways of improvement.  We hope to complete all of the 1-on-1's in January.   We then will have a program meeting on Saturday, January 31st in the lecture room at 3:00pm.  The meeting should last about an hour.

As always, my email and cellphone are always available for any questions, concerns or comments.  We are in this together and the best way for our program to reach its potential is for all of us to be working in unison.

Coach Ric
