2010 ALUMNI GAME A HUGE SUCCESS

Posted by Jeffrey Thompson at Jul 21, 2009 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

The 2010 Alumni game was held on Saturday morning, August 28th and 41 alumni showed up to play.  The Odd years graduates won an exciting scorefest 9-6 and it appeared that everyone had a great time.

This was the highest turnout for the alumni game in 20 years and players from the very first team in 1979 attended as well as a few of last years players.

In the evening 23 players came back to watch our match versus the Greenville Green Wave and to see our "Team of the 90's" honored during halftime of the varsity game.

Bagging groceries at Cub Foods is an important part of our fundraising activities and is another one of our fundraisers in which the players do the bulk of the work. Players,  please sign up for a shift and help the team meet its fundraising goals.

Please note that Cub does have requirements for baggers, but that information is not available immediately. Thus, we will be asking all players to please sign up now by emailing miamisburg.vikings.soccer@gmail.com indicating the shift for which you are volunteering. IT'S GO TIME.............

Posted by Jeffrey Thompson at Jul 2, 2009 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Soccer Players and family;

I want to thank all the players who volunteered at the youth camp.  You added great value and I received many compliments on your efforts.  I was so proud of the camp we provided and you guys were great!!!  THANK YOU!

It is time to get started.......anyone who plans on trying out in August needs to take advantage of the conditioning and contact days in July.  The TEAM CALENDAR has all the dates and times we get together.  ATTENDANCE IS OPTIONAL, BUT ALSO "HIGHLY ENCOURAGED" if you want to have a great tryout.

The Air Show is in two weeks and we need everyone to ask family and friends to help for the weekend.  We need to fill 206 spots to earn our money. This is our biggest fundraiser and we need EVERYONE to help.  If you have any questions, please give me a call....937-902-9414.

Lastly, have a safe and happy 4th of July.  We are such a blessed country and people!!!

For Soccer,

Coach Ric

10 SHORT WEEKS TILL TRYOUTS

Posted by Jeffrey Thompson at May 31, 2009 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Hey Gang:

Can you believe in 10 weeks we will be at tryouts?  That is all the time you have left to get ready for the 2009 season....10 weeks....70 days....1,120 waking hours.  What will you do in the next 10 weeks to help our team reach its potential?

Please look over the calendar as a few changes have been made. Two important items......Team Meeting for players on Monday, June 15th at 7:00pm and we have an important guest speaker who is coming to town.

I want to invite each of you to this special speaking engagement that will happen on Wednesday, June 24th at 7:00pm.  We are partnering with the Gridiron Club and Vikings Boosters to bring in a nationally honored speaker to address our athletes.  Parents and players are invited.....I am requesting 60 free tickets for boys soccer and they are first come, first serve.

The speaker is Joe Ehrmann, former All-American football player at Syracuse University and 13 years as a professional with the Baltimore Colts.  His greater accolades lay in his work with high school athletes in the Baltimore area.  He is working to redefine the social responsibility of coaches, parents and players.

Joe Ehrmann is an inspirational and dynamic speaker who will share with us ways to promote growth, teamwork, effectiveness and individual responsibility.  I am hoping that you can attend.  Please contact me for tickets.

Lastly, please read your email and listen to our Call One messages over the next couple days.  Much going on and we do not want you to miss a thing.

For Soccer,

Coach Ric
