NATHAN WRIGHT - 2008

Posted by Jeffrey Thompson at Oct 28, 2009 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Nathan Wright played forward for the Vikings and was a "bulldog" up top.  He was the team's energizer bunny because he just kept going and going and going.  His fitness and skills allowed him to challenge the opposition for the entire match.  He completed all five team expectations coming into the season.

In 2008, his senior season, Nathan earned his third varsity letter and was one of the captains for the Vikings.  He led the team in scoring for a third consecutive year with 7 goals and 7 assists for 21 points starting all 19 matches.  His performance was a major contributor to the team's 12 - 5 - 2 record and sectional championship.  He received the following honors:

-   GWOC South First Team All-Conference

-   Dayton South Third Team All-Area

-   Played in the 2008 Senior All-Star Classic

DAVID SCHMOLINSKY - 2007

Posted by Jeffrey Thompson at Oct 28, 2009 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

David Schmolinsky was a "rock" playing outside left back for the Vikings.  His love for the game pushed him to excel and drove him to strive for continual improvement.  He completed all five expectations coming into the season.

In 2007, his senior year, David rarely left the pitch while starting all 18 matches.  As one of the co-captains and two-year letterman, he led the team in steals, was second in minutes played and was an outstanding two-way defender.  He made those around him better.

David earned GWOC South Second Team All-Conference.

"Schmo" 's best outing was in the first round tournament game versus Tecumseh.  The team had given up two goals in the opening minutes and he became the catalyst for change.  His effort inspired the team and he willed them to victory with his all-out effort and leadership.

A FINE SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE

Posted by Jeffrey Thompson at Oct 27, 2009 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Soccer Players and Family,

Our loss on Saturday brought an end to our 2009 season.  We played well against Centerville and should be proud of our entire season.   This has been the best "TEAM" that I have coached in my 8 years as a high school head coach.  Everyone worked hard to follow our core values in dealing with each other....responsibility, respect, willing to listen, honesty and positive attitudes were prevalent constantly.  You were a team....playing for each other.

I want to thank our captains, Cody, Wil and Andrew for pushing us towards this teamwork effort.  They did a wonderful job of working with the players, guiding them, motivating them and encouraging them.  THANK YOU.

Next, I want to thank our players for following our leaders.  You listened, changed and improved each week.  We got better as the season progressed and that is the result of your attitudes.  THANK YOU.

Lastly, I want to thank those off the pitch for all your support.  My coaches, our parents, trainers, and school administration were so good to work with again.  You made my job easier and I appreciate your efforts.  THANK YOU.

The easiest way to sum up this year.....WE DID GOOD!!!

I will see you soon at our Awards Banquet, Monday, Nov. 9th, 6-9pm at the HS Commons.

For Soccer,

Coach Ric

A GREAT WAY TO END THE YEAR

Posted by Jeffrey Thompson at Oct 16, 2009 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Soccer Players and Family,

Congratulations on getting the job done.....our first conference championship, GWOC SOUTH CHAMPIONS....sounds real nice.  Also, a three game winning streak to end the season at 7-5-4.....back-to-back winning seasons.....that hasn't happen for a long time.  You should be proud of your accomplishments.

We host Trotwood on Tuesday night at 7pm.  Invite your friends to the game and let's add to our winning streak.

Make sure you check the practice schedule.  It has a couple changes....no practice on Sunday.....see you on Monday, 5-7pm.

Lastly, make wise choices......stay away from those things that you no are wrong, keep working hard on your grades and be the best young man and son that you are able to be for your family.

For Soccer,

Coach Ric

CAN WE DO IT?

Posted by Jeffrey Thompson at Oct 12, 2009 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Soccer Players and Families:

For the second year in a row, we have put ourselves in the right position.  Tonight with a victory, we win the first conference championship in boys soccer history.  In our 31 years, we have only had this chance four times.  Can we do it?

THE ANSWER IS YES, WE CAN!!!  Our match versus Springboro is not going to be easy, but our matchup is one that can be won with a great effort.  Springboro comes into the game with a 6-6-4 record and the #8 seed in the area.  They currently sit third in the GWOC and can tie for second with a win.

We, on the other hand, can become the 2009 GWOC South Champions with a win. I encourage everyone to give their best effort.

For Soccer,

Coach Ric
