Good day, Soccer Family,

I am so pleased to have met with the majority of our group yesterday.  It was great to see everyone and explain our plan for the 2010 offseason.  Today is the start of 18 weeks before our summer conditioning.  I truly believe what you do the next 126 days will have the GREATEST impact on your improvement for the fall season.

As I outlined in our meeting, you need to be lifting 3 times a week, you need to be working on your speed, agility and footwork 3 times a week AND IF I WERE YOU, I would be juggling and working the ball routine everyday!!!  You decide how good you can become by what you do in the off-season. You decide every day with your own choices.

I look forward to seeing all of you at our first two testing days next Sunday and Monday.  How good can we become?

As always, everything you need to know is on the calendar.

For Soccer,

Coach Ric

ANOTHER YEAR HAS PASSED US

Posted by Jeffrey Thompson at Dec 19, 2009 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Dear soccer players and families:

As we come to the end of another year, I would be remiss if I did not wish each of you Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  I am so grateful for each one of you and the contribution you make to our program.  We have built on our success each year and I can't wait to see what is ahead of us.

As I look to 2010 and all that awaits us, I challenge each of you, as I have myself and the coaching staff, to make a bigger improvement than ever before....WE CAN BE SO MUCH BETTER !!!

I believe that 2010 will be the "YEAR" that we finally achieve all three of our annual goals:  1) win at least 10 regular season games, 2) win the conference championship and 3) win at least two tournament games.  The only way that this can happen is if everyone of us get much better than we are right now.  Each of us MUST do something every day to get better.

I will be holding a meeting on Sunday, January 17th in the lecture room at the high school.  The meeting will be from 3:00-4:00pm and is for anyone grades 8th - 11th who is planning on trying out in the fall.  This meeting will outline the off-season conditioning, the 2010 expectations and answer any questions you might have for next season.

This meeting is for players and parents, so plan on attending.

For Soccer,

Coach Ric

Dear Players and Soccer Families,

I want to let all of you know how THANKFUL I am for the past 12 months and all we have accomplished.  WE have moved the program another step forward and I could not be happier with our progress.  When I review our steps of success, I am so pleased:

Step 1 - we had over 40 players tryout for the team this year with 39 of them having an active part in our program and even more importantly YOU WERE GOOD TEAMMATES...playing and caring for each other

Step 2 - we exceeded our fundraising budget earning over $20,000 for the second consecutive year and spending close to 90% of those monies towards the players

Step 3 - both teams had not only winning seasons, but successful seasons that included much improvement in skills and learning

Step 4 - we earned the FIRST CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP in boys soccer history, GWOC SOUTH CHAMPIONS....I will never get tired of hearing that line

Step 5 - we were recognized by our peers with the greatest number of post season awards ever...GWOC Athlete of the Year, GWOC Coach of the Year, 7 All-Conference winners, 5 All-Area winners and 3 Scholar/Sportsmanship/Excellence winners

Step 6 - we have the support of the MHS administration, Athletic Department and Sports Medicine staff

AGAIN, all I can say is thank you for you effort this year.  Please enjoy the holiday season and we will be in touch right after winter break.

For Soccer,

Coach Ric

Hello players and families:

I want to remind everyone that you need to sign-up for our last fundraiser of the 2009 year.....CUB FOODS bagging is this weekend.  WE REALLY NEED YOU TO SIGN-UP.  We are short players and parents. Last year, this weekend yielded us over $1,400.

Plan on wearing your GWOC conference t-shirt when you bag groceries.

Lastly, I want to wish everyone a safe and joyous holiday season.  Please take the time to have some fun these last weeks of the year.

I am thankful for the accomplishments that we achieved this year.  I also am excited about what is ahead of us.  We have only seen a minor portion of what we can accomplish, IF WE ARE WILLING TO WORK TO BE GREAT.

I encourage each returning player to be doing some type of ball footwork every day.  You and the ball need to be ONE!!!!  The ball routine in our handouts tab is a great place to start.

For soccer,

Coach Ric
