WELCOME 2011......HISTORY IN THE MAKING

Posted by Jeffrey Thompson at Jan 2, 2011 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Dear Players, Parents and Soccer Friends:

Welcome to 2011 and the start of our off-season preparation.  This could be a year of significant achievement for our program.  Numerous milestones could be accomplished with the right amount of hard work, dedication and commitment to reaching our potential.

What is up for the taking:

- a 2nd GWOC South championship.......could we duplicate the winning ways of the 2009 team by bringing home the crown?  It is one of our annual goals.

- a 3rd Sectional championship.......in the past 4 years.  In achieving this annual goal, we would establish ourselves as a top team in the area.

- a 4th consecutive winning season.......first time ever in program history IF we reach one of our annual goals by winning at least 10 regular season games.

- In accomplishing the above, you become the first team to achieve OUR three annual goals in the same season.  This would be a major milestone and would allow the graduating seniors to become the "WINNINGEST" class in program history surpassing last years group.

The real question is......will you do all you can to make history

The coaching staff will be scheduling 1-on-1 meetings for all returning players and parents.  We plan to have these completed in the next couple weeks.  You can locate the meeting schedule signup on the "OFF SEASON INFORMATION" tab.  Please email me with your choice.

Our off-season program will begin on Monday, January 31st.  Check the team calendar for more details, times and location.  Please remember that all off-season participation is OPTIONAL.

For Soccer,

Coach Ric

Good Day Vikings Soccer Family,

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and is looking forward to a joyous holidays.   As the head coach of this team, I could not be more thankful or happy with the progress OUR program has achieved the past 5 years.  We all should be proud of the improvement.

I do want to announce that 5 additional players were recently recognized for their contribution to the varsity program this past season.  Initially, we felt that these young men had fell short in meeting the requirements to receive their letter and they were not honored at the awards banquet.  After further review and much discussion, the coaching staff were in 100% agreement that Josh Carmack, Caleb Denlinger, Nate Northern, Nolan Schacherer and Jacob Schmolinsky had earned their Varsity letters.  These letters were awarded in a meeting last night with players and parents present.  A late, but very well deserved CONGRATULATIONS to these players.

Secondly, I want to take a moment to recognize Coach Jerry Randolph for his four years of service to Miamisburg Soccer.  I am so appreciative of his passion, enthusiasm and hard work and I thank him for his efforts.  He went out of his way to be available to the boys for any discussion, support or encouragement needed.  I wish him the very best in the days to come.

Lastly......Happy Holidays. Please be safe and make right decisions.   The coaching staff looks forward to meeting with you after the first of the year and starting our off-season workouts.

For Soccer,

Coach Ric

JONATHAN SOTO - 2010

Posted by Jeffrey Thompson at Nov 25, 2010 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Jonathan Soto was the team's stopper in 2010 and was a "brickwall" in defense.  His desire to do whatever it took to win the ball was paramount to his play.  His physical presence, speed and skill made him a force on the pitch.  He completed all five team expectations coming into the season.

In 2010, Jon's senior year, he started all 19 matches and earned his second varsity letter.  He played in over 93% of the minutes available.  Jon's man-to-man marking on the opponent's top forward was stellar as the team only allowed 27 goals.  He had 41 steals for the year and helped lead the team to its second sectional championship in the past three years.

Jonathan was named GWOC South Special Mention for his efforts.

Jonathan was named the 2011 recipient of the 4-year Vikings Booster Scholarship.
