TONY PHIBBS 2012 HALL OF FAME

Posted by Jeffrey Thompson at Jan 11, 2012 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

The Boys Soccer program has its first member of the Miamisburg Athletic Hall of Fame.  Class of 1982 and member of the inaugural  Vikings soccer team, Tony Phibbs, has been selected as a member of the 2012 Hall of Fame class.

Tony was  a multi-sport athlete who lettered in basketball, baseball, tennis and track as well as his three letters in soccer.  A natural athlete who was comfortable on any playing surface, he excelled on the soccer pitch. Tony still holds the career and season school scoring records 30 years after his graduation.  The single season scoring record is at 21 goals and  the career scoring record is at 45 goals.  Tony was also a captain on the first winning team in soccer history in 1981 when the Viking kickers went 9-7-2 in their third season.

Tony will be honored, along with his HOF classmates, on Friday, February 10th at halftime of the Miamisburg vs Xenia boys basketball game.

In honor of this accomplishment,  we are requesting that the entire soccer family....current players, parents, alumni and old teammates join Tony at the induction ceremony.  We ask that you wear some shirt that says VIKINGS SOCCER and help us make this night special!!!

COACHES ANNOUNCE DEPARTURE

Posted by Jeffrey Thompson at Dec 10, 2011 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Dear Soccer Players and family,

Today was not easy for Coach Kevin or me as we step away from the program, but we are so proud of what we all have accomplished together. Miamisburg soccer has improved and is one of the better programs in the area!

I want to take a moment and thank some important folks....

- The Miamisburg Administration and the Athletic Department...thank you for your support.

- The Soccer Booster Board Members...thank you to all of you who served in this thankless position. We did really good.

- The many parents and families that worked with me. You have no idea how grateful I am to have so many folks buy-in to what we were trying to do for the boys.

- The 100+ players who worked so hard to become the best player possible...thank you for giving to our program. We are winners both on the scoreboard and how we played the game!!!

- My family...Connie, Tyler, Travis and my parents....thank you for everything. I know that it wasn't easy sometimes, but you kept me going and I love you for it.

Lastly, I will continue to work with everyone until a new staff is in place. I will be sending out a one call and email as soon as we decide which nights we will utilize for off-season training. Please work the training packets on a daily basis to get better.

For Soccer,

Coach Ric

JORDAN ESHBAUGH - 2011

Posted by Jeffrey Thompson at Nov 21, 2011 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Jordan Eshbaugh was the team's vocal leader who gave an all-out effort in every practice and game.  He played the outside right back position supporting the attack at every chance and looking to make the long cross-field switch of play.  He completed 4 of the 5 expectations coming into the season.

In 2011, Jordan's senior season, he started all 16 matches in which he played, earned his third varsity letter and was one of the tri-captains for the squad.  His ability to push the counter attack out of the back was vital to the offensive game plan.  He had 5 assists, 16 shots on goal and 81 steals. He also  was an important piece to the defensive effort that tied the school record of least number of goals conceded in a season at 20.

Jordan earned GWOC South Second Team All-Conference.

The sectional championship was a double OT penalty kick thriller that came down to Jordan to close out the match.  His successful PK gave the Vikings a 2-1 win and its third sectional title in four years.
