Astros lose 1st game

Posted by Ken St.Aubin at Sep 29, 2002 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Astros lost their 1st game this fall season to the Marlins, 9 - 7. The Astros were paced by 3 hits each from Joe Silver and Nnamdi Dikes, with a Grand Slam being hit by Joe in the 3rd inning to bring the score close at 5 - 4 at that time. A few too many overall walks by the pitching staff, 11 to getting only 2 from the Marlins was the difference in the game as the Astros had 9 less base runners. So far off to an average start at 1 - 1 - 1.

Astros rally late to tie game

Posted by Ken St.Aubin at Sep 25, 2002 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Rockies and Astros played their usual game of its not over till its over and played to a 5 - 5 tie. Not much offense by either team until the last couple innings. With the score in favor of the Rockies 5 - 2 with 2 outs in the last inning, The Astros rallied to get 3 runs on a hit by Aaron Dushkin and helped by a couple Rockie errors. Mark Robichau came in to close the home half of the inning to preserve the tie. Great lesson by all in never giving up until the last out.

The Astros won the 1st Fall'02 game of the season, 7 - 3 vs the Dodgers on Tuesday night. Excellent pitching by Mark Robichau, Harrison Muecke and Aaron Dushkin to get the team off to a good start. Timely 2 out hits by Garrett Hester and Chris St.Aubin to drive in runs at critical times in the game paced the way. As well as defensive gems by Karl Pringle throwing a player out at 2nd and Chris at 2nd base getting a ball deep in the hole helped stop Dodger rallies.

Regular season ends

The Astros ended the regular season with a 12 - 5 loss to the Dodgers as they scored 10 runs with 2 outs in the 1st inning. All kept their heads high and had a excellent rally in the 3rd inning that was just a couple of hits from getting the game closer. David Koller pitched the last 2 innings in relief and did a good job striking out 3 players. Cameron Brown played with a cracked rib as we just had 9 players for the game. Mark and George both had multiple hit nights.

Although the Cardinals were missing 2 of their starting players, Karl Pringle pitched an outstanding game as the Astros won 11 - 2. Good hitting from all players as the team scored 2 or more runs in every inning.
