HHS Dugout Club Member of the Week

The Member of the Week program gives our Chamber members and also other citizens the opportunity to learn more about all the wonderful businesses, organizations, individuals and nonprofits that make up the Hendersonville Area Chamber of Commerce.

1. What do you feel your biggest business accomplishment has been?
Our biggest accomplishment lies in two parts...our kids and our facility.  We have been blessed to see kids that graduate from our program succeed not only personally but professionally in both the business world and in baseball.  We have everything from bankers to professional baseball players as graduates and this gives us more pride than anything.  Secondly the upgrading of our baseball facility at Drakes Creek Park has given our program a playing field that is second to none in our state and this is the work of many for many years.  Currently, we have just signed on to build a state of the art hitting facility on the campus at HHS that will give our school, our program and our community something else to be very proud of in the coming year.

2. What do you love the most about your industry and what you do professionally?
Without question the relationships we build with our players, our parents and our community are what makes our job seem not like a job ever.  We are rich with friendships and memories and that is something no one can ever take away.

3. How has the Hendersonville Area Chamber of Commerce made a difference in your life and would you recommend the organization to others?
Through the Chamber speaking for myself personally it has enabled me to reconnect and stay connected with friends and businesses that I would have never been able to stay connected with.  For our dugout club it is a tremendous avenue to keep relationships with our supporters who have been so good to us over the years in our community.  I would highly recommend anyone that does any business with any type of relationship in Hendersonville to join!

4.  If you had any advice for another business person, what would it be?
My best advice is to not set any limits on what you and your business can accomplish.  If you would have told me 15 years ago that we would have been to the State Tournament 5 times, had a player make it to the major leagues, have an artificial turf playing field, and a new indoor facility on the way I would have said absolutely no way.  But we have attained all that and more by not limiting what we think is possible!

FULLER TO CONTINUE CAREER AT MARYVILLE COLLEGE

Fuller commits with Maryville College Scots

Brandon Fuller, a senior at Hendersonville High School, has committed to continue his education and collegiate baseball career at Maryville College.

The 5-foot-10, 194-pound pitcher comes to Maryville after earning a District 9-AAA Championship and a Regional Championship in 2015. This Hendersonville, Tenn. native earned a State Tournament appearance, before holding a 1.38 ERA during his senior campaign. Fuller earned All-District honors during his junior season.

"Brandon is another left handed arm that we are thrilled to have on board," Maryville College Head Coach Cody Church said. "He plays in a highly competitive league and has had a ton of success in his career. He brings a dynamic look to our staff. With his ability to compete and mix pitches, he will develop into a great pitcher."

Fuller is the son of Tracy and Trey Fuller.

He joins a Maryville College program that has been led by Church for the past two seasons. He will be part of a squad that finished with a school record 29 wins and a berth to the USA South Conference Tournament Championship game during the 2016 season.

"This is another talented group of freshmen we have joining our program," Church said. "Coach Clint Helton did a phenomenal job this year bringing this group onto campus. We are really excited to see these guys develop in their time here at Maryville College."

In only a pair of seasons, Church has elevated the Scots' program in recruiting, development and facilities, making Maryville an enticing spot for recruits across the South Region. They have compiled back-to-back 20-win seasons, while having Nick Dean become the first-ever MC player to be drafted to Major League Baseball. Dean was taken in the 32nd Round to the Los Angeles Dodgers, and became a Pioneer League All-Star in his first season.
