HHS DEFEATS BEECH 3-0

The Commandos got a complete game shutout from Hayden Mullins and some timely hits to defeat the Buccaneers on Tuesday night.

Mullins struck out 12 Beech hitters, including striking out the side in the 7th to pick up his 4th win of the year. The sophomore allowed only three hits on the game.

HHS struck for two runs in the bottom of the second when Hayden Layne led off with a triple and scored on a Gabe Dalton single.  With two outs later in the inning, Caid Sanders singled to bring in Harrison Williams from second to make the score 2-0 HHS.

The Commandos would add another run in the bottom of the fifth.  A one out walk to Austin Mays and a Beech error put runners at first and second with no outs.  Layne delivered his second hit of the night, a single, to drive in Mays and make the score 3-0. 

The Bucs would load the bases in the seventh thanks to a single, a walk and a hit batter.  However Mullins would get two strikeouts to end the threat and the game.

With the win HHS improves to 17-7 overall and 7-3 in District 9AAA.  The Commandos will next play at Friendship Christian on Thursday night at 7:00.

HHS LOSES TO BEECH 6-3

The Commandos dropped their third game in a row on Tuesday night at Beech High School 6-3.

Beech jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second thanks to three unearned runs.

The Commandos rallied to tie the game in the top of the third.  A double from Hayden Layne scored Austin Mays who had singled.  A walk to Brett Coker was followed by a two-run triple from Gabe Dalton to tie the game at 3-3.

Sophomore Cameron Hansen would settle in for the Commandos from there allowing only two hits over the next three innings.  Beech would get a two-run homer from Ryan Mortensen in the bottom of the sixth to give Beech a 5-3 lead.  The Bucs would add on another run to mkae it 6-3. 

HHS would threaten in the top of the seventh as Mays and Layne each reached base to start the inning but were left stranded at second and third to end the threat and the game.

With the loss HHS drops to 16-7 overall.

HHS LOSES TO FRIENDSHIP CHRISTIAN 1-0

The Commandos lost their second game in as many days falling 1-0 in eight innings at Friendship Christian on a rainy Thursday night.  The loss was the second straight walk off loss in as many days for HHS.

HHS wasted a sepctacular pitching performance from Hayden Layne on the mound.  The sophomore allowed no runs through six innings of work while striking out 7 in the no-decision.  Layne, along with Brett Coker were the two bright spots offensively for HHS.  Each had two hits a piece. 

With the loss HHS drops to 16-6 overall.

HHS DEFEATS GALLATIN 5-1

Sophomore Cameron Hansen carried a perfect game into the sixth inning and ended up with a two-hitter to help lead the Commandos to a win over Gallatin.

Junior Gabe Dalton had a single, triple and two runs scored to lead the Commando offense.  Nate Vaughn was 2-2 with 3 RBI for the game as well.

Hansen struck out 7 and did not walk a batter in the complete game victory.

HHS moves to 16-4 with the win.

HHS LOSES TO GALLATIN 2-1

The Commandos suffered their first loss in 10 games on Wednesday night as Gallatin scored 2 runs in the bottom of the seventh to pick up a 2-1 win.

HHS wasted a solid pitching performance from Hayden Mullins.  The lefty went six innings and struck out 9 while allowing 1 earned run.

The Green Wave scored two runs thanks to three wild pitches and passed balls in the seventh inning to get the walk off win.

Gabe Dalton homered and singled for the Comomandos in the loss.  The homer was Dalton's second of the year.

With the loss HHS drops to 16-5 on the year, 5-2 overall in District 9AAA and 3-1 in the North Division.  HHS will next play at Friendship Christian at 7:00 Thursday night.
