Posted by Andy Gilley on Apr 15 2018 at 05:00PM PDT

The Commandos stepped outside of district play to face long-time rival Friendship Christian on Thursday night and HHS came away with the 4-2 win.

It was a back and forth game early on as both teams had the majority of their combined 17 hits over the first three innings.

Junior right-hander Brandon Tucker pitched out of jams in the first three innings before settling in to pick up his 4th win of the year.  Tucker scattered 9 hits over 6 innings of work while striking out 7 and allowing two runs.  He was at his best in the 5th and 6th innings when he got 4 of his 7 strikeouts.

Reid Nelson had a big day at the plate.  Nelson led off with a double and added two more hits on the day while scoring two runs.  Hayden Layne picked up his 27th and 28th RBIs of the year as well.

With the win HHS improves to 18-3 overall.  The Commandos will next be back in action in District 9AAA play as they travel to Mt Juliet on Tuesday night to face the league leading Bears.
