WINNIPEG DYNAMO KYIV SOCCER CLUB Our Proud History The history of Winnipeg Dynamo Kyiv Soccer Club-WDKSC started in March of 1994, when four soccer enthusiants Taras Maluzynsky, Ray Honeybun, Jerry Pniowsky and Peter J. Manastyrsky, who were involved with IPAC (Institute Prosvita Athletic Club) for three years, obtained a team in the 3rd division then called the Manitoba Central Soccer League-MCSL, from the Jamaican United Soccer Club. During that year, Winnipeg Dynamo Kyiv Soccer Club played interlocking games and achieved 1st place out of 10 teams. In the 1995 and 1996 season, WDKSC played within the 2nd division and at the end of the 1996 season, the team placed 1st and was promoted to the 1st division of the MCSL; coached by Peter J. Manastyrsky. Winnipeg Dynamo Kyiv Soccer Club in 1997 placed 2nd in the first division and promoted to the Premier division, again coached by Peter J. Manastyrsky. From 1998 to 2001, Winnipeg Dynamo Kyiv Soccer Club had portrayed a significant role at the Premier level focusing and setting goals to achieve excellence in men's soccer. During that four year period many players were involved in high caliber matches. At the end of the 2001 season, WDKSC achieved a 2nd place standing out of 13 Premier teams. At the end of the 2002 season, Winnipeg Dynamo Kyiv Soccer Club sustained its position into the Premier division of the Manitoba Major Soccer League (formally Manitoba Central Soccer League) for the 2003 upcoming year. In 2003, the team completed the seasonal schedule and participated in the Manitoba Soccer Association Cup tournament and in a tournament in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Also, WDKSC hosted their inaugural UKRAINE YOUTH CUP INDOOR CO-ED SOCCER TOURNAMENT in March of that year. The tournament has a success, over 50 Ukrainian youth participated in the tournament. To date, this tournament has become a landmark for youth soccer in our province. Between 2003 and 2011, Winnipeg Dynamo Kyiv Soccer Club has promoted soccer, particularly men's soccer in Manitoba, being at the Premier 1 and 2 levels throughout that time. This involvement has given WDKSC a very positive profile and the Club is always providing, fostering and developing the game of soccer in Manitoba and within the Ukrainian community. Soccer is a sport, but it is also a vehicle to promote friendship and diplomacy to enhance culture and to strengthen the heritage of any community in our province. Therefore, Winnipeg Dynamo Kyiv Soccer Club has rallied for 18 years to preserve that image, being involved in soccer, trying to keep the interest of many young and old, in a game that is played throughout the world. Peter J. Manastyrsky President Winnipeg Dynamo Kyiv Soccer Club June 2012
