At Alvin 12-20-16 (Lake 73-67)
Clear Lake won over Alvin 73-67 in a really good basketball game Tuesday afternoon. Fans were treated to a 29 point performance by Alvin's Savion Flagg (A&M signee). But his silky smooth offensive display was overshadowed by Lake junior guard Ajare Sanni's 44 point tally which tied the school single game scoring record set by Alden Miles in 2013. It was Sanni's left side layup with 39 seconds remaining that broke the tie game and put Lake into the lead for good. Followup free throws by Mason Parker and Zaid Harris put the icing on the cake. FYI: Sanni went 13 of 16 from the free throw line. Shucks!
This was the third consecutive game where Lake's second leading scorer, Jeremiah Maldonado, has sat out due to his knee injury. We hope to have him back for the tournament in Cedar Park (Austin) on the 29th and 30th. See "Tournament News" in the menu above for more details on the tournament. (By the way, after the first game of the tournament against Westwood High School, our regular season will be 50% completed).
Lake fans have been spoiled by having witnessed so many great games already this season and they can expect many more. Some fans are also beginning to sense just how special this young Clear Lake team really is. Lake is now 10-5 for the season and 1-0 in district.
