Senators Edge Ocean Cardinals -- 43-0

Did you know that the 1996 (aluminum bat) Senators traveled almost 1.5 hours up into Ocean County only to beat the Ocean Cardinals by a 43-0 score in just 7 innings? And did you know that Senator great Joe Santone somehow managed to get just ONE HIT in the contest? Other record breakers in this contest -- Most Runs in an inning (16, in the top of the 7th); Most Hits in a game by a Senator player (Jim Varley, 6-for-6), Most RBI in a game by a Senator player (Gerry Haggerty, 8), and Most Hits in a game by a Senator team (34).

Did you know that the only player to homer in his first at-bat as a Senator was Mike Dettra? Dettra homered into the trees at Williamstown High School's Owens Field in a game against the Mets. Did you know that Dettra has not homered since that day?

Two Triples, One from Each Side

Did you know that Dan Barbara once tripled twice in the the same game vs the Medford Yankees at Wilson Field -- once batting right-handed and once batting left-handed? And did you know that one of them went to the RIGHT of the port-a-potty in right-center and the other went to the LEFT of that port-a-potty?

Did you know that Senator skipper Nick Frese is the only player to homer is his last regular season AB for the Over 30 Senators? Frese homered over the short centerfield porch at Cherry Hill Babe Ruth Field vs the Cherry Hill Tigers. It was the game-winning RBI in the 8th inning. It was his first wooden-bat homer, and he hasn't hit one since.
