The girls finished runner-up and the boys third to score trophies at the 20-team Tidewater Classic Wednesday in Salisbury.

Runner-up finisher Alexis Groce became the 5th MHS girl all-time to break 20 minutes with a 19:49, while Kelsey Cabrera (6th) and Hannah Uebele (8th) also scored Top 15 medals. Lydia Cole and Amy Wilson ran great races, while Janin Rodriguez and Taylor Hoey scored career-bests to round out the varsity.

For the boys, Henry Phalen (5th, 17:17), James Hagen (9th, 17:38) and Trevor Maloney (12th, 17:47) each nabbed a medal, while Andrew Eshelman and Jeremy Morgan rounded out the scoring pack with strong runs. Brandon Munce and Chandler Benson-Reid closed out the varsity. Hagen's time ranked him No. 18 on the MHSCC all-time fastest 5K list.

Shane Feightner, Brian Gilewski, Zach Legg, Charles Peterson, Janssen Pacarro, Natalia Hernandez, Osi Chilton and Dania Rodas each added career-best times.

The MHS boys & girls cross country teams each improved to 4-0 on the season after defeating Lake Forest Wednesday at home. Alexis Groce and James Hagen led the way with strong times.

Trevor Maloney, Wayne Foster, Muneer Aziz, Dylan Hoffmaster, David Sebastian, Kaelan Curry, Mike & Chris Szczepanski, Charles Peterson, Eric Velasquez, Eric Nielson, Sarah Jump, Molly Fulton and Dania Rodas raced to career-best times.

BOYS, GIRLS KEEP ON MOVING WITH WINS AT DOVER

James Hagen, Henry Phalen, Andrew Eshelman and Trever Maloney put together a 1-2-3-4 scoring pack to help lead the boys past Dover and Polytech Monday. Meanwhile, Alexis Groce led the way for the girls as each team improved to 6-0 on the season.

Brandon Munce, Jeremy Morgan and Jeremy Harper rounded out the varsity boys, while Kelsey Cabrera, Amy Wilson, Hannah Uebele and Lydia Cole posted a great scoring pack for the girls. Janin Rodriguez, who raced to a career-best, and Taylor Hoey, rounded out the girls' varsity.

Maloney, Shane Feightner, Muneer Aziz, Mike & Chris Szczepanski, Brian Gilewski, Donique Hughes, Dante George, Josh McCormick, Zach Legg, Charles Peterson, Eric Velasquez, Dylan Schleigh, Saati Shah and Eric Nielson each ran to career times!
