2014 Madison Beginner Tournament Results
Madison – Beginner’s Tournament January 19, 2014 at Walter C. Polson Middle School Madison, CT
Here is how they did: Mighty Mites; Gunnar Rumpf 2nd, Bantams; Jed Dubuc 4th, Collin Peck 2nd, Intermediates; Jordan Sackschewsky 2nd, Johnny Rosario 2nd, Zachary Polzun 3rd, Jacob Wagner 3rd, Evan Whittaker 3rd, Tyler Polzun 4th and Novice Sebestyen Gabor 4th.
Coach Mark and Fred will be at the tournament.
2014 Mighty Mite & Bantam State Championship Results
The youngest Minutemen traveled to Stamford to compete in the Mighty Mite and Bantam State tournament. This event crowns a state champion for these age groups. In the Mighty Mite Division Ayden Rodriguez started things off winning three matches two by pin to become the only champion of the year.
The youngest member of the team Gunnar Rumpf who is four, went 2-2 on the day and placed fourth. In the Bantam Division both wrestlers finished 4th Austin Teti also went 2-2 winning his first match 7-5 and then winning in the consolations round 8-6 before losing his final match 4-0. Mason Arborio also went 2-2 winning his first match by Tech Fall 22-5 and then dropping a 7-2 decision before winning 8-0 and losing a close 10-7 final match to finish 4th. Collin Peck won his first match by pin but then dropped his next two finishing just outside the medal round.
Coaches Mark Mangiafico, Fred Orde and Gary Rumpf were proud of their young wrestlers. Mangiafico said, “I was impressed at how far these young men came in such a short period of time. We lost a lot of practice nights due to snow this year which made it hard to teach them as much as we would have liked.”

Qualifications for wrestlers to participate in Beginner’s tournaments are:
Must be a first year wrestler or have two or more years of experience in which the wrestler has not won a medal in a regular tournament, in which the brackets were greater than three wrestlers, in the current or prior year(s). A wrestler that has two or more years of tournament experience and has also won two Beginners tournaments in the same year or a prior year, then that wrestler is not eligible to wrestle in subsequent beginner’s tournaments.
All wrestlers will be grouped by both age category and weight into
4-man brackets. Each wrestler will wrestle one-another giving each wrestler a total of 3 matches (round-robin format).
The top three wrestlers in each group will receive medals.

2014 Green Knights Girls and Beginners Tournament Results

At the CT GREEN KNIGHTS WINTER TOURNAMENT on February 8th the following Minutemen completed. Bantam; Collin Peck 2nd, Jacob Trommer 2nd, Intermediates: Jordan Sackschewsky 2nd, Mary Morley 3rd, Christianna Morley 4th, Novice; Sebestyen Gabor 4th, Middle School; Tyler Jones 1st, and Madalin Morley 4th.
In the CT Girls Green Knights Tournament the following wrestled; Madalin Morley 2nd, Christianna Morley 3rd, Sadie Boyer 4th and Mary Morley 4th.
2014 Bobcat Brawl South Windsor Results
South Windsor High School,Sunday February 2, 2014
On Sunday, February 2nd a small group traveled to the Bobcat Brawl in South Windsor where Rory Mayer placed 3rd, Austin Teti and Gunnar Rumpf place 4th. Gavin Huddelston was the lone Novice wrestler in the afternoon who placed 3rd.
