Coach Moss After A Match!

Posted by Roger Moss at Jan 25, 2002 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
Please understand that it is difficult lining up matches at our meets. I try to match our kids with someone of equal ability. I don't want someone to become discouraged because they wrestle someone so much better they can't do anything on the mat. I also want everyone to have a match and this is where the dilema happens. Some times teams don't match up well and their better wrestlers are where our weaker wrestlers are. For the remainder of the year I will try to arrange the matches in the order that people arrive for the match. Those arriving late will wrestle at the end of the night when an opponent has multiple matches. The other factor that plays into the equation is when a wrestler leaves or doesn't want to wrestle or doesn't show up. This can throw off the order that we have put together and the pairings. Anyone wishing to help during matches please let me know. All help is welcome and if we share the jobs that need to be done we will all come out winners. Special thanks to Paul Powers and Bob Butler for heelping out at our match with Meriden!image

Good Day At Griswald

Posted by Roger Moss at Jan 14, 2002 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
Five Berlin Youth Wrestler’s traveled to Griswald High School on Sunday, January 20th with four taking home a medal. In the Bantams Division Ryan Butler took first place pinning all three of his opponents on the day. This was only Ryan’s second tournament he has competed in. Also in the Bantams was Sean Pentalow who met Joe Murphy from Avon in his first meet. Murphy is the only wrestler who has been Pentalow in tournament action this year. Pentalow had a Tech. Fall against his next opponent from East Lyme 11-0, had a pin in his third match and beat Zachary from Somers 6-5 to take home second. In the Midget Division Ryan Bisson had a forfeit in his first match then went on a tear, pinning his opponent in the first period from East Lyme and Montville for first place. In the Novice Division, Kevin Moss won his first match 16-1 against his Groton opponent then lost in the semi-finals 2-0 against Gibson from East Lyme and then couldn’t come out on top of a 7-2 score against his Somers opponent in the consolation bracket. In the Schoolboy Division John Holzinger won his match by pin and then lost his second match 9-1. Tournament Action picks up again next Sunday in Somers.
