"It's time" De La Salle Football fans. It's time for the De La Salle Football team to go to work for the first time for the 2004 season, when all three levels, Freshman, JV, and Varsity will conduct the first practices of the year at 9 am sharp and start the 77th season of De La Salle football. Players for all levels are asked to start coming to De La Salle at around 8-8:15 am. After working to get stronger, participating in agility drills, partaking in 7 on 7 competitions, and doing other activities to prepare themselves for this moment, "it's time" for the 2004 De La Salle football program to show the Catholic League and the state what it is made of. The challenge to this team is not just to continue the success the football program has enjoyed under Coach Paul Verska since he took over the reins in 2002, but whether or not they can take the proverbial next step and realize "it's time" to take control and start competing for bigger and better things. The fruition of all the hard work and preparation will be seen on August 27th when the Pilots play their first game against Detroit Pershing at the Warren Community Center. Fans can catch a preview of the team at the Purple and Gold Day at De La Salle on Saturday, August 14th from 8:30 AM to 3 PM or at South Lyon on Thursday, August 19th when the Pilots, all three levels, participate in their 4-Way scrimmage. One thing is for certain though: "It's time" for the 2004 De La Salle football team to take control of the Catholic League and the state and continue its mission of "313" (Three consecutive winning season, three consecutive playoff berths, the football team's first Regional Title) and set the bar for future De La Salle football teams. There's no time for excuses. It's time to go to work and uphold the proud name of De La Salle. So until August 27th, I join all Pilot fans out there by saying good luck to the 2004 football team and GO PILOTS!
The De La Salle Football Program is going to be holding two very special events this upcoming season. The first will be Grade School Night on September 10th when the Pilots take on La Salle (Ont.) Sandwich. Kids of grade school age, from pre-school on up to 8th grade, are allowed into the game for free with a parent. (Adult admission is $5) This is a great opportunity to get possible future Pilots acquainted with the great tradition that is De La Salle football and enjoy a great game at the same time! Please spread the word about the game and Grade School Night. It's sure to be a fun time. The second and more exciting night will be our First Annual Football Alumni Night on September 24th when the Pilots take on the Brother Rice Warriors at the Warren Community Center at 7:00 PM. This night is specially dedicated to the alumni who gave their time and effort into making De La Salle football what it is today and gave their blood, sweat, and tears to their school by playing high school football. Alumni who RSVP before September 20th will be allowed in the game for free, form a "student" tunnel, welcoming the 2004 De La Salle football team to the field, honored at half time, and have a group photo with the present team celebrating over 75 years of Purple and Gold football tradition. This event is open to former De La Salle football players, coaches, managers, trainers, doctors, and any other auxiliary staff. If you would like to attend this special event, email your RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org or call the De La Salle Athletic office at (586) 778-2207 after July 13th. Alumni are requested to come to the front gates by 6:30 PM. Alumni who are willing to help with the football alumni night, again, email your contact information to email@example.com Please spread the word on both of these events and make the 2004 De La Salle football season a special one. GO PILOTS!!! Please mark these two games on your calendar and help De La Salle remember the past, while looking to the future. As always, Good Luck and GO PILOTS!!!
