Adams Downs Pilots In Season Finale
On a rainy, Friday night in Rochester Hills, the Rochester Adams Highlanders clicked on all cylinders, beating the De La Salle Pilots 34-6 to end De La Salle's season in the first round of the playoffs for the first time since the 1999 season. De La Salle finishes the year at 6-4.
The Highlanders scored early and often, scoring 10 points in the first quarter on a 44 yard field goal and a Josh Renel 28 yard touchdown run. In the second quarter, it was more of the same as Renel returned a DLS punt 78 yards for a touchdown, scored on a five yard run, then Adams QB Andrew Waszak scored on a one yard run to give Adams a 31-0 lead at half.
In the second half, Adams scored on a 33 yard field goal to go up 34-0. De La Salle went down the field and scored on a two yard Kyle Torzy touchdown run, which was set up by a 27 yard run by Andre Dortch to close the gap to 34-6, but it was closest the Pilots got the rest of the night.
A season wrap-up and announcement of awards will be done after the Football Banquet in late November.
