With a three-game road trip against some of the state's best programs on the horizon, the Shelbyville girls' basketball team made sure to take advantage of its matchup with Greensburg Saturday.

The Lady Golden Bears go to 2-0

The Lady Golden Bears remain undefeated for the 2004-2005 season with a convincing 54-27 victory Saturday Night against Greensburg. The Lady Bears had nine players score led by LeeAnn Douglas 11, Ashley Ayers 10, Julie Snuffer and Lauren Murphy with 8 apiece, Lauren Rees 6, Heather Carlson 5, Laura John, Dana Gardner and Sarah Wheeler with 2 apiece. Greensburg was led in scoring by Ally Tressler and Anna Riedeman with 8 apiece. Next up for the Lady Bears is Indpls. Roncalli Tuesday night. JV tip is at 6:00PM and the Varsity at 7:30.

The Lady Bears Open Season With A Win

The Lady Golden Bears open on the road at Yorktown with a 55-53 win. The game was back and forth neither team had more than a six point lead at any time. Yorktown was ahead at halftime 20-16. The Bears reeled off 5 points to start the third quarter to take a 21-20 lead. In the fourth quarter with the scored tied at 53 LeAnn Douglas made a basket to break the tie and put the bears ahead for good at 55-53. With 5.6 seconds left after a Shelbyville timeout, Yorktown threw the ball out of bounds. With 0.6 seconds left, the Bears threw the ball in and the game was over. LeeAnn Douglas led the Lady Bears in scoring with 17, Lauren Murphy had 12, Lauren Ress had 9, Julie Snuffer had 6, Ashley Ayers had 5, Dana Gardner had 4, Melanie Clark had 2. For Yorktown they were led in scoring by Andi Winney with 28. The lady bears next game is Saturday with Greensburg at home So pack Garrett Gym Saturday To show your support for the Lady Golden Bears. The Lady Golden Bears Junior Varsity won big at Yorktown by a score of 55-24.
